Headed toward Tupelo and the Natchez Chase. No Elvis in Tupelo, either. First time we left without knowing where we would be camping along the Trace. And that is where today’s story begins. Feb 8, 2012 Beale Street and the Lorraine Motel Houston, Mississippi, United States Elvis lost again. No tour of Graceland this year. Instead we went to the National Civil Rights Museum in downtown Memphis today. Museum was basically a timeline history of the civil rights movement in the south and mostly the movement in Memphis. Notes from a Birmingham Jail by Dr. King with a jail cell just like the one he was in after being arrested. Very moving. We saw the play ‘1968’ at the History center before we left.
