Oct 14, 2014 - Ants and Storms

We survived yesterday! I woke up thinking I have something crawling on me! Got up was having coffee and Bob said there is a ant on him. Guess what, we were invaded with ants around the bedroom floor and ceiling, then we found them everywhere!!! So thought we parked on a ant hill. We moved to another spot and made a few phone calls for ant spray Not so this is very common for Mississippi they tell us. We were told to go to the Dollar General down the road....pick up Comet and some ant spray. Sprinkle the Comet around the trailer and the...

Apr 4, 2014 - Mississipi

Apr 6, 2013 - Hattiesburg, MS

4/6/2013 Saturday Summerdale, AL to Hattiesburg, MS 148 miles Okatoma Resort & RV Park We had a late start today and pulled out of the RV Park around 12:00pm. We made a fuel stop, paid $3.88/gallon, but did not fill up because we expected to find fuel at a better price in Mississippi. It was 1:00 by the time we were on I-10. On the way in to Mobile, AL we could begin to see the Carnival cruise ship, Triumph. The cruise ship totally dwarfed the battleship USS Alabama which we could see in the foreground. Just as we were approaching the...

Nov 2, 2012 - Hattiesburg, Mississippi (Sleep Inn and Suites)

November 2/12 We got up early to get a head start on a long haul it was another gorgeous day for a drive. We were able to get a cache in Alabama at a rest station it was an interesting station with a full size rocket welcoming us into Alabama. Just north of Hattiesburg, Mississippi where we were going to stop for the night, the tire pressure monitor went off on another different trailer tire and we landed on the off ramp shoulder for the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport. We had a nice view of Mississippi countryside. We got the tire...

Feb 3, 2012 - Hattiesburg, MS

February 2 dawned bright and beautiful and we slowly got up and got ready to get on the road. We could have driven the 360 miles to Red Bay, AL, in one day, but we've made the decision make more stops to smell the roses. Our first stop was to be in Hattiesburg, MS, home of the Univ. of Southern Mississippi. We stayed at Camp Shelby, an Army training facility, just south of Hattiesburg. We found the FamCamp with no problem, but there were no spaces available. We had decided to make our way back out to the highway, when we were stopped by the...

Dec 15, 2011 - Mississippi--family reunion and celebrations

We were in the Paul B. Johnson State Park, south of Hattiesburg, MS from December 1 through 23. We spent lots of time with family and friends. I worked several days with my uncle to create a 50th Wedding Anniversary scrapbook. We almost completed it; we had a really great time. It was my uncle’s first time to scrapbook. Believe it or not he was a “natural” with the tools. Our preparations for Christmas were quite different this year. Of course we had a tree! It was not a tree like any we have ever had before; the full sized tree was just...

Nov 17, 2011 - Main Street Hattiesburg

Aug 1, 2011 - August 1. 2011

August 1, 2011 This is the first time I have looked at my email since we left Baltimore. There are so many "adventures" in RVing that we are experiencing. Greg has really been a trooper and continues to be excited by each "adventure--CHALLENGE" that occurs. We have not yet gotten a tv hookup. So, here we are facing the end of the first month and "no tv"!! We have both been extremely surprised at how little we have missed it. We have obviously read a lot; listened to lots of "oldies", especially the Beatles and enjoyed establishing new...
