Sep 3, 2014 - A Three State Day

We got going early, filled up with gas at a nice price of $3.25 a gallon. By 11:00 a.m. we were at Carpenter's Campers in Pensacola where we handed over the keys to our RV to what appeared to be a competent and very large service department. They've been in business since 1964 which is pretty amazing when you think about it. We read for while and then went to our go-to lunch place, a Subway. To pass the time we found a grocery store and bought a few items. Jerry waited in the car with Holly. It's very hot so we do this a lot, keeping the...

Mar 15, 2014 - On the road again

13 March, 2014 Today was dog grooming day. Boys were not too happy having being caged but they both shared the same cage. Poor Hercules was already shivering, our poor baby. He will be fine. The sun is out and we hope it warms up as the day goes on. Skyped with Pat and family when Steven came over. 15 March 2014 Grilling competition on a Main St. in Biloxi, but weather is not cooperating. It was rainy, so we bought some ribs, oysters wrapped in the bacon and pull pork sandwiches and after short tour of the vendors booths we went back to the...

Our trips

Mar 11, 2014 - Hello Keesler AFB at Biloxi Mississippi

Left Red Bay 7:30am, good weather dry and sunny. That was short lived as 3 hours into the trip it started misting and quickly started to pour! Oh well, the joy of traveling. We arrived at Keesler AFB, Biloxi Ms. around 3:30 and were assigned a nice pull thru site #47. They issued us a Verizon WiFi to use, that was a good deal. Steve came by at 4 and after a tour of our home we went to a Mexican restaurant for supper. We were surprised to have his class join us and so we had a nice dinner with all.

Our trips

Jan 30, 2014 - Biloxi, Mississippi

Days 330 - 332 of The Big Trip January 28 The forecast was for a major ice storm to hit all across the Gulf coast area. We knew it was to begin late in the morning, so we decided to move early while we could. Clark called to find there were a few spaces available at the campground at Kessler AFB, Biloxi, so that's where we headed. With fewer than 60 miles to drive, we were settled before 11:00am, well before the sleet began to fall. The temperatures continued to drop and stuff continued to fall. By the time it was dark, the ground was...

Jan 7, 2014 - Biloxi, MS and Keesler AFB

We left Pointes West about 8:30 a.m. with Rebecca driving the first segment. Along the way Dave checked the iPhone weather for forecasts for towns to the west on I-20 and towns along I-10. Because the temps were about 8 to 10 degrees warmer along I-10 that is where we went. Following I-20 to Atlanta, then south on I-85 to its terminus and south on I-65 toward Mobile, Alabama, then finally west on I-10 to Biloxi, Mississippi and Keesler AFB FAMCAMP. The drive was 527 miles and 10 hours driving through 3 states, we were glad to see it end. It...

Jan 3, 2014 - Biloxi News

The Biloxi News COLD!!!! They are experiencing a record cold spell here in the South -- go figure. We are still in shorts/capris and flip flops but have put on a sweatshirt or coat a time or two. There goes our goal of staying in shorts, tank tops and flip flops for the rest of our lives. We are still seeing the beautiful sand beaches but water temps are too cold to swim - that was nice in Florida. Drove to Pass Christian, Long Beach along the water - saw the Hurricane Katrina statues made from tree trunks. Biloxi - there are many casinos...

Nov 17, 2013 - Biloxi

The highlight of our visit here was Beauvoir, the retirement home of Jefferson Davis. The Beauvoir estate is notable as the historic post-war home of the former Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Its construction was begun in 1848 at Biloxi, Mississippi. It was purchased in 1873 by the planter Samuel Dorsey and his wife Sarah Dorsey. After her husband's death in 1875, the widow Sarah Ellis Dorsey learned of Jefferson Davis' difficulties. She invited him to the plantation and offered him a cottage near the main house, where he could live...

Journey 2013

Nov 2, 2013 - Mississippi Gulf Coast

We had almost 2 weeks before we were due in Pensacola, so we decided to explore the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We drove the 230 miles on a warm, sunny day, and pulled into one of the prettiest parks we’ve seen, Majestic Oaks RV Resort. It’s a tidy, rather small park (90 spaces) with pretty landscaped areas and nicely-placed vegetation that provided privacy between the spaces. The people were very friendly and we took walks every evening to meet and chat with our neighbors. Biloxi was the third largest city in Mississippi, but with its...

Sep 6, 2013 - Biloxi MS Day Day 3

Rich spent the morning trying his luck at the IP Casino, unfortunately, all he could hit was 6 out of 9 at Keno...although everyone around him was getting Royal Flushes and another one won $6,000 jackpot on a quarter slot machine. He said he came home a loser this time and to cancel our Las Vegas trip in October. I had a nice relaxing morning and took my walk on the beach. The plastic container, that appeared to have once held hydraulic fluid, had finally came ashore. Also a cutting board came ashore. Such a same how we do not take on the...

2013 RV Trip

Jul 11, 2013 - BILOXI after a few headaches

Well, we're back at it...RV trip with all the joys and also all the HEADACHES!!! Yes, caps on that last word! As I write this, we are at the Majestic Oaks RV Resort in Mary's favorite spot, Biloxi! The trip up good old US 19 was uneventful and familiar. We got on to US 10, headed west, and got to the Chattahochee KoA with ease. We did notice that the inverter panel was flashing, which was not the norm, but after much reading on the subject, and checking batteries, etc, decided it was not a worry...as a matter of fact, it is still flashing,...
