May 17, 2013 - A New Beach
Left our Louisiana this morning and moved to Biloxi, Mississippi. A beautiful white sand beach, but the water is no match for the clarity of Corpus Christi. Water temp is very warm. Weren't able to spend much time on the beach, but tomorrow is coming. Found a barbeque joint for lunch and a little Deli for ice cream this evening after crawfish etouffee.

May 16, 2013 - Hollywood Casino, Tunica, Ms.
On Tuesday, May 14th about 9:00 am we left Jackson Ms Moose Lodge on the way to Tunica Ms . Arrived Tunica, Hollywood Casino about 1:00 pm. Got all set up in the RV Park. This is a real nice park with full hook ups. We are only about 75 yards from the back door of the casino. We went over to the casino and played some blackjack, three card poker and some Texas Hold-Um. Judy did real good at the three card poker table and I didn’t do bad playing Texas Hold-Um. I stopped playing about 9:30. On May 15th we went over to have the 99 cent...

May 13, 2013 - Time in Navarre and Trip to Jackson Ms
No problem sitting up the camper in the driveway at Donise's. Cooked hamburgers out the first night and had a great visit with the family. Andrew and I went fishing on the Navarre Pier the next day. Only hooked one big fish but never got a chance to see it before it broke off. (how's that for a fish tale) The next day we went to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. What a great museum. They have artifacts dating back to the beginning of aviation to the Space Shuttle. Andrew and I got to fly the simulator for the F-15. This was a...

May 9, 2013 - Mis-sis-sippi!
We had to stop in the state to make it official, and add Mississippi to our 'states we have visited', list. We have a very good guidebook called, "The Next Exit", that tells us where all the rest-stops and Visitor's Centers are along the Interstates. It also tells us what amenities are just off every exit ramp. We can find gas stations, campgrounds, travel centers, hospitals, Walmarts & Ford dealerships in any state that are within a certain distance of an off-ramp. This book has been 'invaluable' during our journeys. As we travel, we can...

May 2, 2013 - Morning Rain
We are still in Vicksburg because it was suppose to be windy and rain all day yesterday....and it didn't. It's raining now and will probably rain all day so we'd better put our web feet on and hit the road. Our only venture out was to the mall. The mall is a very old one and even though the anchor stores are still open the other stores are being replaced by Karate schools, day care centers, dance studios, and insurance offices. Dick found a denim shirt with an anchor on the sleeve. I got a top appropriate for a wedding taking place in the...

Apr 30, 2013 - A " dust up"
We have Texans next door and there was quite an argument going on with a man in a Prevost pulling a trailer taller than the RV with a three seater golf cart on the back. Later they asked me if I heard the argument. I said yes and he replied it was a big Dust Up. Meaning: like a truck crossing the range and stirring up a cloud of dust that lingers in the air. The disagreement was still in the air. Seems the Prevost guy was so long,DUH,he wanted his neighbor to move and give him more space while he parked. Note: A Prevost is a custom RV that...

Apr 28, 2013 - A liquid day!
He is .......ALIVE .....and no longer walking like a prehistoric man.....and agreed to let me help disengage the utilities. It was raining but we were on the road by 8:30. On the hitch first hit. There's just one rest area between Shreveport and Vicksburg. When we stop there is always a walk around and a systems check. The golf cart had to have two straps replaced and the systems check revealed we had less than half a tank of exhaust fluid. The straps were easily replaced. There was an extra box of exhaust fluid in the tool box. This...

Apr 24, 2013 - From Biloxi to Mobile
While we were in Biloxi we found their lighthouse. It is in the middle of the beach road that runs right along the gulf coast! This lighthouse has survived the Civil War and untold number of hurricanes, even Katrina which almost leveled Biloxi! Right across the street from the lighthouse was the Biloxi visitor center. It is located in what looked like a beautiful plantation home. Inside it was absolutely gorgeous! The docent at the information desk was so very friendly and informative. From her we found out that we were actually in a new...

Apr 15, 2013 - Arrived at Sun Roamers RV Resort.
Hi Y'all Two great days for driving, overcast and no rain. Made it through Houston on Sunday afternoon but I don't think the traffic lessens any. I did keep to the left when I should have kept to the right. We both noticed but too late to do anything about it. But we left it to 'old numnuts' (our GPS) and he got us out of our problem lickedy split. Already my computer has told me that I have had two misspellings, but I'm leaving them just to spite the spell check. Had a great evening at Gulf Coast RV (except their Internet antenna was...

Apr 14, 2013 - Birds Galore and More
We left Sam Rayburn Reservoir and Twin Dikes Campground Monday morning and headed south to Vidor, Texas. We were on our way to see Ted Williams to have a slide gear replaced. Found his place, real close to Bairds Bayou. Real nice guy, lots of stories (lots and lots of stories) and he had a huge metal building in which to do RV repairs. It is also used to garage a couple of boats he owns and two big, white limousines. One of them was almost 50 feet long. It was a Cadillac Escalade, or at least it started its life out that way. Now it can...

Apr 11, 2013 - following the muddy Miss. north
We got another display of southern thunder and lightning this morning as we awoke to pouring rain. After an hour or so of Tofino-style rain there was a break so we hustled out to hook the trailer up and headed off to see Baton Rouge. We splashed along the highway crossing about 20 miles of swamp elevated on pillars and spent an unpleasant hour getting sprayed and passed by semi’s cheerfully screaming along at 70 MPH despite the rain! As in most cities the visitors centre at Baton Rouge had no parking especially for somebody with a trailer...

Apr 8, 2013 - getting warm on the Gulf
We headed out for a little kayaking on Back Bay this morning so of course?.......windy, what a surprise! At least the tide wasn’t against us as in Biloxi area they have only one high and one low in 24 hours. It recedes at about an inch an hour for 12 hours then gains that inch an hour back for the next 12 so no noticeable current. We gritted our teeth and headed into the wind and eventually came to the PMQ’s for the huge air force base here. We aren’t sure if this location or Tyndal air force base outside of Pensacola is better, but either...
