Jul 10, 2014 - Maple Springs Campground

Monday, June 30 to July 4, 2014 – Maple Springs Campground We are enjoying the scenery and the wildlife. Our friends, John and Doris and Lois, who run the campground are a joy to be around. We visit, learn about other experiences, eat, and play games together. They have beautiful flowers and an asparagus garden. We just eat asparagus and eat asparagus. I don’t think we will ever get tired of asparagus. Friday, July 4, 2014 --- Sunday, 06, 2014 On Friday, Lowell and I went early to the Bent and Dent Store. Only on the first and third...

Jun 30, 2014 - Amateur Radio Experience

Sunday, June 29, 2014 We learned so much about the worldwide “Field Day” for Amateur Radio Operators from Craig "W7BGO". This event is the most popular contest with “Hams” (Ham Radio Operators) setting up emergency communications, away from their normal locations to try and make as many contacts as possible with other “hams” nationwide and worldwide in a 24-hour period. All of the temporary stations must be powered by other means than normal grid power. This includes gas generators, battery power, solar power, and wind power. The “Hams”...

Jun 21, 2014 - Minnesota

Friday, June 20, 2014 – Saturday, June 21, 2014 – Lindstrom, MN Today was wash day. The clean clothes look so nice in the newly organized closet shelves. Worked on some more scarves and just relaxed and watch TV. On Saturday, we drove to Turtle Lake, WI to met Lowell’s brother, Bruce and his wife, Marilyn at the Dairy Queen for lunch. We had a wonderful, much needed visit with them as we haven’t seen them in a couple of years.. We took Janice with us and we all had a great visit. Can you believe the Dairy Queen’s up here don’t serve...

Oct 6, 2013 - A good time in Minnesota

September 18, 2013 - October 6, 2013 We spent a few days at Lowell’s sister-in-law, Janice’s, house in Lindstrom, MN. We really enjoy visiting her. She is a ball of energy and loves to have company – such a joy to be around. She has decided not to can any more so she gave me her canning jars. If we ever settle down I plan on canning fruits, vegetables, and maybe even some wild game. But that is in the future. From Lindstrom we went to visit Maple Springs Campground. It is so beautiful all year round but I think it has even more beauty in...

May 16, 2010 - Maple Springs Campground

Maple Springs is one of our favorite campgrounds in MN. The south fork of the Root River flows through the campground. It is rated as the most pristine river in MN, with plentiful trout for the fishermen. No MOSQUITO lotion is needed, for some reason they do not exist in this area of MN.
