Jun 29, 2018 - Whalan, MN.

We have moved down by Whalan (Larry's hometown) to Eagle Cliffs Campground. The big reasons are, they have 50amp and full hookups. The weather here is in the 90's and 80% humidity, so the a/c runs steady and we can take showers in the RV. The fast pitch softball tournament starts tomorrow morning. But with a twist after 40 some years, it will be women's teams. It seems they cannot get enough men's teams to compete. We are here to meet old friends that come to watch. We had a very bad thunder storm and the rain was blowing sideways. Well...

Today we moved on to the town of Whalan, MN where Larry was born and raised. If you followed us last year - this is a close repeat. We just have another child with us. This is known as the 'Root River Valley'. Absolutely beautiful country. Corn fields and small towns. At one time there was a train that ran through the valley. The small towns are now tourist stops with Bed and Breakfasts, Inns, Hostles....

Teams from 4 hours away were playing. It is quite a crowd for the little town of Whalan. Larry spent the weekend catching up with old friends and classmates. The boys watched the games, fished, tubed the river and played with the other kids. Come bedtime Jay struggled to stay awake long enough to brush his teeth and change. He was begging to go to bed. See....Mom, it's not hard to...

Our destination with the boys is Whalan and then Rochester, MN. We are in Whalan for a week and then to Rochester until the boys fly home on July 11th. Then we head north to the upper penisula of Michigan. There is a softball tournament over the weekend of June 30th that brings a crowd and a lot of fun to Whalan. Larry's sister owns land next to the ball bark so we are set up with a front row spot. You could say we are camped in a corn field. Corn field on one side and the ball park on the other. Whalan is where Larry grew up. He has lots...
