Oct 6, 2012 - Full Timing It

Welcome to our trip journal and thank you so much for coming along on our new adventure into the vast unknown! In August Rick resigned his position at Hosanna Church in Lakeville where he had been employed for the past four years. The job was a good fit for a while, but then he began feeling restless and dissatisfied and finally realized that it was time to move on. For several months, he explored the idea of buying and managing an RV park and we visited a few parks that were for sale, but reality eventually began to dawn and he realized...

Sep 7, 2011 - Heading South

On Tuesday morning, we pointed Suzi south for the first time in many months. Actually, we had to travel southeast since Minneapolis is really east of Bemidji. That seems weird, but true. As I indicated before, we bypassed the first couple of hundred miles of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca to Little Falls, since the mighty river isn't that mighty yet and we had already traveled from Grand Rapids to Lake Itasca. -- Our first stop on our Great River Road trip south was in Little Falls, Minnesota, about 114 miles southeast of Bemidji....

Pretty Damn Nice!

May 1, 2010 - Savage & Edina

Ever since we arrived at this campground (Thursday), Bandit has been freaking out over a 4-foot spruce tree that’s near our rig. Whenever we walked the dogs, he would act very strange around the tree. Once, Bill thought he heard a hissing sound, so we’ve just kept the dogs away from it. We just figured the dog was neurotic, until we walked them this morning. Out of the bottom of the tree jumps a female mallard duck! She was very upset with us. She must be nesting under there! We spent all day today in my old hometown of Edina. We first...

Apr 29, 2010 - Savage, MN

We’re now in Savage, MN, just south of Minneapolis, and near Edina, where I grew up. Up until now, all of the lilacs I’ve seen were a week or more away from blooming. This campground has many lilacs, and they’re all blooming! I’m in nirvana! The scent nearly knocked me over as soon as we arrived. It’s probably my favorite scent (although roses are a close second), and I always miss the ones at home because of our spring trips. We may have severe weather, with heavy rain during the night, so we’re going to pull our big slide-out in before...

Oct 5, 2009 - Minneapolis/St. Paul

SATURDAY, Oct 3 -- Drove north through Iowa into Minnesota today. Drizzle off and on most of the morning with some sunshine between waves of rain. At least there was no wind to annoy us on the drive. Lunch in the Motor home and a stop at the Minnesota Welcome Center were the high points of the day. We're staying the next three nights at the Town & Country Campground in Savage, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis). SUNDAY, Oct 4 -- Took a drive to see Fort Snelling, but only saw the exterior as they are only open on Saturdays. It's constructed from...
