Sep 28, 2018 - 3 weeks in Prior Lake MN area

3 weeks here in the Prior Lake MN area went by quickly. the weather was great the first week, the second week was cooler with some rains, and the 3rd week was clear, but a bit cooler than usual. .. The Dakotah Meadows RV Park is adjacent to Mystic Lake Casino. We had a nice back in site that was all concrete, with a full hook up (50 amp). It is a very nice quiet park. Laundry facilities were nice, plus they had a large self service rv/car wash that we also made use of. Also on sight were fuel pumps (gas and diesel) that were competitively...

Sep 8, 2018 - Made it to MN!

The trip from Sun Prairie WI to the Mystic Lake Casino Prior Lake MN was a longer one. We stayed on the highway and took advantage of several rest stops along the way. We pulled into the Dakotah Meadows Campground at 4 pm and got all set up in no time. Michelle, Patrick, Tristan and Jade came over and brought us pizza for dinner, so nice after a long trip on the road. Thanks everyone for understanding our time frame of posting our journey for the last two months. We will try to share as we go so you may enjoy our travels along the...

Mar 2, 2017 - Back To Minnesota

. ''Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, Healthy, free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.'' . - Walt Whitman (1819-1892) . When Walt Whitman wrote "Song of the Open Road" in the 1800's, roads were mostly brown dirt. Now, unless I get lost, or misdirected by a well-meaning GPS, we travel the black or grey roads, leading me wherever I choose. In this case, it was, after 5 months and 10,000 miles, from the warm South to the frozen North of Minnesota. What normal sane person would do this?...

Going Down MC's-LANE

Oct 3, 2012 - Mystic Lake Casino

Once we determined that Sierra was OK, we headed out for the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. We had planned to stay at a Regional park near the Mall of America, but we when checked with the Visitor's Center at the stateline, we learned of Mystic Lakes Casino, their great rates, full hookups, beautiful sites and a resort set up for RVers. They even have fuel for $3.46/gallon! We topped off the fuel tanks and propane and headed to our site for the next week. When we arrived on Wednesday, it was near 80 degrees. Thursday...

Dream On

Sep 14, 2012 - Mystic Lake Casino, Minneapolis, MN

When we departed from Stone Lake, WI we drove the back country highways most of the way to Minneapolis. It was only 160 miles from start to finish and Rebecca drove the first half. We pulled into the RV park adjacent to Mystic Lake Casino in the southwest corner of Minneapolis area of Eden Prairie and were pleasantly suprised with the facilities. We have a nearly level concrete pad that is long enough for the rig and alittle patch of grass outside our front door. All that for $33 per day. A phone call and the casino will send a shuttle van...

Jul 15, 2011 - Our 10th & Final State Of The GRR Trip

From Dakotah Meadows RV Park – Prior Lake, MN Moving into our 10th and final state of the Great River Road trip…………Minnesota! Today we traveled about 170 miles from our previous location in Wisconsin and about 60% of the trip was in various stages of rain…….from not quite enough to use the windshield wipers to heavy downpours with pooling on the roadways that caused large walls of water being sprayed back onto the windshield and causing momentary loss of vision! We arrived at the park a little before 1 PM but could only pull into our site...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Jun 20, 2010 - Prior Lake, Minnesota

Another day of wonderful driving brought us through the beautiful landscape of Central Minnesota. I am happy to report NOTHING unusual happened between Fargo and Minneapolis. We did see road paving on I-94 on the other side of the freeway which create a 5 mile backup, and it made the occasional bumpy road seem minor in comparison. We stopped at Dakota Meadows RV Park locate next to the Mystic Lake Casino. For father's day we celebrated by eating at the Casino's buffet. I tried the 'meat' approach to dishing up by heading straight for the...

Jun 16, 2010 - Metrodome - Mall of America Day 3!

Well today was the big day for our oldest son - a HUGH Minnesota Vikings fan. We took a tour of the Metrodome and took LOTS of pictures - a few we have posted. We were out of the Metrodome in an hour and our youngest was begging to go back to Mall of America to walk the plank AGAIN! So we went back to Mall of America and this time his older brother joined him for the ropes! Other than that, an uneventful day and now preparing to get back on the road tomorrow -- headed somewhere between here and Yellowstone. We'll see where we end up...

Jun 15, 2010 - Mall of America - Day 2

Day 2 at Mall of America. I think we're gonna have to go back tomorrow and buy new shoes from all the walking! And to think my wife says all that walking doesn't count as "real exercise"! Our youngest child (12) spent most of the day in the theme park and must have ridden every coaster at least 3 times, maybe 4. He also walked on the "ropes" of the Flying Dutchman's Ghostly Gang Plank for which we have posted a photo. This thing is 56' up -- walking on ropes but secured with a safety harness. He went all the way to the top. We are preparing...

Jun 14, 2010 - Mall of America

Had breakfast at Mystic Lakes Casino. The food was good, but it was another rainy day. And of all things, no drinking in the Casino, but they will still take your money at the slot machines. Only got $96.00 out of me! That is, of course, because Robin only gave me $100.00 to spend! We then headed out to the Mall of America and had lunch at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company. We have arrived back at the motorhome and will report back again later in our Adventure!! Planning to go back to Mall of America tomorrow -- it's so BIG! It's unbelievable.
