Jun 5, 2016 - We made it to the end of the Alaska Hwy!!!

We made it to the end of the Alaska Hwy today!!! They gave us our official signed certificate stating that we made it all the way. One huge check off our bucket list. It was everything we thought it would be and so much more. We spent so much time talking, laughing, teasing each other, and just enjoying every beautiful moment together on the road. The rest of our time will be spent visiting different areas of Alaska. Tomorrow we will be doing some 4 wheeling right outside of Delta Junction up and down the Alaskan pipe line. We are then off...

Jun 4, 2016 - Skagway AK... The train

We made it into Alaska!! We did not finish driving the Hwy yet because we wanted to turn off to get to Skagway for the train ride in the Mountains. Let me say...it did not disappoint . I stood outside the train most of the way up the mountain which took about 1 1/2 hours. It was so beautiful. I was up close to the waterfalls, we went through tunnels, over little bridges. I thought I would be a little scared standing outside hanging on to the railing taking pictures but the beauty took over and I didn't feel any fear. It wasn' like the train...

Jun 3, 2016 - A more relaxing day

Today was a little more relaxing. We drove for about 8 hours. We saw a moose swimming in a big pond. We stopped to have lunch along the road at this little grocery/restaurant. I tried some Bannock for the first time. It's a traditional Indian flatbread usually made in the bush. It was really good. We stopped early at a Motel to do laundry and just relax. We talked to all the kids and Facetimed Brooks and our dog Koda. We miss everyone so much....especially those Grandbabies!!! See you in Alaka!!

Jun 2, 2016 - A day of Animal sightings

A long, fantastic day spent along the Hwy. Today's animal sightings...we saw 9 black bear, 1 grizzly bear, 3 moose, 1 Caribou, 10 Stone Sheep, 2 porcupine, and 3 Buffalo. These animals were all seen on the side of the road. Each animal sighting was just as exciting as the last. We also found some Hot springs along the hwy. We put on our suits and enjoyed the warm, and in some areas hot water. We then pulled into Watson Lake. This is the place of the Sign Post Forest. People from all over the world hang a sign stating where they are from....

May 31, 2016 - Banff and Jasper Nat'l Parks Canada

A great day of driving through Mountains and Parks. Banff and Jasper Nat'l Park are absolutely amazing. In Banff we took a hike on the Johnston Canyon walkway, and walked on the catwalk. It was a bit scary but a lot of fun. You'll have to check out the pictures. We also traveled to beautiful Lake Louise. The pictures don't do it justice. The water is so blue with the snow covered mountains in the background...breathtaking. We the drove to Jasper through the park taking the Icefield Pky, I think that's what they call it. The views on the...

May 30, 2016 - Entering Canada

This day was a day of driving with some beautiful scenery. Our goal for the day was to drive around in Glacier Nat'l Park. Due to the amount of snow cover and the Hwy to the sun road being closed, we decided to explore that area on the way back home. We did drive a while through the Rocky Mountains and took some great pictures. Most importantly...we made it into Canada. We did get stopped at the border, got asked to pull our truck underneath their canopy, and come inside to speak with immigration who had some questions for us. We were then...

May 29, 2016 - The Missouri Breaks and Zortman

What an amazing day we had this day. In the morning hours we went 4 wheeling in the Breaks. While we were riding we ran into another couple, Jeff and Kristal. They told us the riding there is great with miles and miles of trails. They also said the views are amazing. In the early afternoon hours we decided to Check out this town. We first had to drive seven miles down a dirt road to get there. Once...

Oct 9, 2009 - Preparing to head south

As the cold weather approaches, we prepare to head south. For those of you who don't know, we are going to the Gulf of Mexico. It is a small town called Surfside, Texas. It will be totally different than Az. and New Mexico, but we want to see the country. It is right on the water, so hopefully the hurricanes will be done by the time we get there. Hope to do some deep sea fishing and who knows, maybe some surfing. We are leaving on the 18th of Oct. The summer went soooo fast, but it was generally good. It is with excitement and sadness that...
