Sep 16, 2016 - Ho Hum

Moorhead, MN Today we did nothing but travel so we could check in to the hotel as soon as possible. Earlier Jim had cold symptoms for a couple of days but, thankfully, nothing further developed. After all, the world knows that if a man gets sick, the earth might as well stop spinning. Sandi, however, always does a much better job of almost everything and she picked up Jim's cold with a vengeance. In fact, we had to stop to get another box of tissues for her sore nose. Outside, fittingly, is gloomy and rainy. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Aug 13, 2014 - On The Road Again

Today was a pretty long travel day, about 300 miles. We almost crossed the whole width of North Dakota, the Montana line was only a few miles from Medora, where we left. We stopped in Fargo, North Dakota to rest tonight, and it’s only a few miles from the Minnesota border. A few more miles and we would have made it all the way across North Dakota in a day. :-) We got a pull through site and didn’t even put our slides out, we want to be ready to roll fast in the morning. We are heading to the Great Lakes area to explore as many lighthouses...

Sep 22, 2010 - On to Minnesota

Before hitting the road in the am, we enjoyed a scenic drive through the national park where we photgraphed our first fall colors. It is so remote and quiet out here - as we were taking pics we could hear elk bugeling and coyotes howling in the distance and the sound of birds and crickets everywhere around us. There are also several colonies of prairie dogs. I could sit and watch those guys for hours - they are so cute and made both of us miss our "boys"- Nate and Max. On to the long drive across ND - boy is that country boring! Though we...

Jul 30, 2010 - Buffalo River State Park

A very tiny and crowded campground. Families come for the swimming pools. Lots of mosquitos and deer flies - decided to put up the tent to help keep them away. Athena liked the tent and slept outside - much cooler than trailer. Also, lots of poison ivy. The ranger came through and said we were under tornado watch... PS - the tornadoes that hit MN the weekend of Aug 7 were just south of the park.

Sep 25, 2009 - Buffalo River State Park, MN

We left Minneapolis mid-afternoon and drove Northwest. We passed through the wooded lake country and into the plains. After a day of rain we saw a beautiful sunset and arrived at camp just as it got dark. Reed is almost seven weeks old now and is doing great - he can hold his head up, is starting to smile lots (which makes up for how often he wakes up in the middle of the night) and today fully rotated his head to turn toward Scott's voice. He sleeps nearly the entire time we are driving, waking up when we stop or every couple of hours to...

New York to Alaska

Jun 27, 2008 - Moorhead MN

We left Osseo, WI this morning after a breakfast that would be worthy of Waffle House including smothered hash browns. Ahead of us was a long day of driving across Minnesota. We made it through Minneapolis/St. Paul without a hitch, in fact we even discussed taking I-94 directly through Minnapolis/St. Paul rather than circumnavigating the Twin Cities via I-694. We only discussed the route as going through a large city without knowledge such as taking the downtown connector through Atlanta is risky. Cousin David because of the long day we...
