Jul 21, 2012 - Day 22

Another rainy morning. Not looking to do much sightseeing in the rain. Decided to go do some window shopping at the Outlet Mall in Albertville and Camping World in Rogers. Had lunch at Denny's in Otsego. The rain stopped early afternoon, as we were at lunch. Tomorrow we continue our trek west.

Jul 20, 2012 - Day 21

We woke this morning to a very heavy rain storm and decided that today was not really a day to go sightseeing. So, I am catching up on this blog and some reading. The girls are reading and watching tv. More tomorrow. Since I have had a request for interior photos of the coach, I will include some today.

Jul 19, 2012 - Day 20

Today we decided to take a trip down to Bloomington, MN and visit the Mall of America. Not as big as the West Edmonton Mall that we visited two years ago, but still very impressive. The stores are on three and a half levels with the Nickelodeon Universe taking up the center of the building. Some rides took up close to the entire height of the building. Once we arrived, we had lunch at Tony Roma’s and then walked around. In several places you could see completely across the game area almost to the other end of the mall. We ended up getting...

Jul 18, 2012 - Day 19

We departed the Barron Motel and RV Campground this morning for Monticello, MN where we expect to spend about four nights and do some sightseeing in and around Minneapolis/St Paul. Not long after we got on the road, the weather clouded over and for most of the drive we were in rain, so not a good day to take pictures. As we approached St Croix Falls, we had to detour down to Osceola to cross the St Croix River and get back on US 8. This was the first day of our trip that we encountered rain during the day. We encountered rain the night we...

May 19, 2012 - a blessedly boring day

We're traveling with friends who are driving a motor home almost identical to ours. In our gated community we are only allowed to park the rig near our home for 24 hours and we were hoping our friends could boondock at a nearby Walmart to make our departure today go efficiently. Despite their huge, empty parking lot, the neighborly folks at Walmart said no. So we were glad that our friends were allowed by our subdivision management to park in the lot next to the lodge. Our neighbors told us that they got into an argument after they saw our...

Aug 10, 2008 - Good Friends

We were headed for Brainerd MN. today but when we called for reservations we found that the biggest stock car race of the season was being held there this weekend and there wasn't an empty RV spot any where in the area. So we called out good friends, Mike and Kathy Munger in the twin city area and decided to go down their way for a visit. We found a campground in Moticello MN. and the Mungers said they would bring dinner and come visit us for the evening. We had dinner and sat and visited for a few hours and then it was time to say...

Sep 13, 2007 - Fargo To The Mississippi

Didn't get an early start so we didn't make much progress today. Jim's headache still hangs on and today the wind is still a problem. Thought we might have to get off the interstate but we headed SE and the wind was mostly at our backs. Stopped at Monticello, Minn. It was confusing trying to find the campground. We drove way off the highway only to find the campground was closed. We didn't want to drive any further but there was another campground nearby so we hunted for it. It ended up being a beautiful spot and only about 100 feet from...

Aug 12, 2007 - Monticello - Minnesota

Today we drove through Milwaukee and past Madison Wisconsin.... If you've ever been there you would understand!!! We spent most of our time on the road with only a few stops for a little bit of shopping. The campground we found just outside of the capital city, was right next to the Mississippi river. It doesn't look how we thought it would look. Maybe it looks better the further South a person goes. That night we loaded up on more supplies for our camping - Hotdogs!

FATH WORLD TOUR!

Jul 19, 2007 - Monticello, Minnesota

Our next stop was Monticello, Minnesota. Monticello is just west of Minneapolis. Our first stop was the Mall of America. While malls aren't my favorite pass-time, we just couldn't pass up seeing the largest mall in the US. The mall is 4 stories tall. The lowest is an aquarium, and the other three are shopping and a movie theater. According to the "1000 Places to See Before You Die" book, if you spent 10 minutes in each store, it would take 86 hours to see the entire mall -- we didn't have that long, so we saw it in three. One of it's most...
