May 17, 2016 - Phil's Poland trip in brief!

The trip to Poland was a real pleasure as my son John was my tour guide! It started out from Minneapolis airport on the 9th of May, by way of Amsterdam. Then on to Kraków Poland. The whole trip was filled each day with new places to visit. First day was a walking tour of Krackow in the oldest part of the town where there are 27 Catholic Churches and 7 Synogogs. Each of them have a history dating back as far as the 1300s. The second day was a trip to the city of Auschwitz with visits to two of the most famous consintration camps and the...

May 6, 2016 - First entry on the new toy^_^

Finally we made it to Maple Grove where we get to stay while P has his big trip to Poland!!! The last days on the road are always exhausting no matter how we try to take it easy! Ha. Had a great trip with any rain coming down at night.... Good roads.... Even coming up across country from Lena, IL to Hixton, WI.. It was fun to be driving through the rural countryside fields, barns, cows, etc. We started looking for a wide spot in the road to stop for lunch and next thing we see is a great tourist stop with a big parking area and a cafe,...

Jun 6, 2015 - More tree news....

Just talked to the lady who knows the real story... (owner's wife :>) and I guess they did have a quite a wind storm and lost part of the tree limbs... they called in a tree guy to help straighten it out... with that it still looked misshapen so they just had it cut down. She had them straighten the stump so she can make a planter there and they saved three cuttings that they've rooted and will be planting in the park! So now we can all feel better even if it is still not there where it belongs! Edee

Jun 5, 2015 - Just an update....

Only have one picture of the Lund clan get together... will get it on tomorrow I hope! ^_^ Great group of people... lots of hugs and smiles! Beautiful day at the park.... it's almost full tonight so there's a waft of bonfire smoke on the breeze. P is at a baseball game with Royce and gang... I took pity on the pup & cat and stayed with them. ^_^ Not much big news ... I did find out today that the reason the huge weeping willow was taken down was because it blocked some sites TV reception.... and it was messy because the kids loved to play...

Jun 2, 2015 - Ok... sorry about my tree fetish! ha

We went to see an "adult" ball game last night... cool breeze but it was fun to see everyone again!! Then we ate at Maynard's which is a VERY good place to eat!! ^_^ They had the most delicious turkey burger with avocado and cheese on a gluten-free bun!!! Couldn't believe it was!!! Only difference was it didn't squish and get soggy like the regular buns!! Great tasting huge burger... ; > Today was quiet at the A/S... around noon we had to run get a few things...P & P & W etc.. so we stopped at Walmart. It got a bit exciting for awhile when...

Oct 2, 2014 - Mississippi River in the rain.....

Luckily the rain held off until we got all set up at Pettibone Park... dogs walked... etc.. and now I'm almost asleep listening to the gentle rain on the A/S roof!!! ^_^ Love that sound... heavy on the "gentle"!! We stopped at the State Park for our lunch today... it was pretty much foggy the whole way down.. driving in a cloud... but not heavy enough to be dangerous. It's a great drive down Hwy #61 along the River. The leaves haven't turned a lot but there are some beautiful trees. I didn't try to take pics in the mist so you'll have to...

P has a new cover for his IPad that's much better than the old one!! And a new cord so he can plug it in. Sep 29, 2014 - Progress!

Made it to KOA at Maple Grove.... it's like coming home when you get hugs from the guys at the desk! ^_^ It's a great park! It's kind of a surprise to see the trees down here almost more bare than the ones up in Bemidji!? We were considering staying up at the cabin one more night and heading out early on Tuesday.. *)* ... but that seemed way to 'chicken' so we did a forced march and got stuff all together by a bit after noon and took off for the southland. It's really fun to watch P do the routine of closing things down... he's really got...

Aug 10, 2014 - Minnesota

Minneapolis/St. Paul This area is definitely on the bottom of the list of the places that have been enjoyable to visit. Even though we did go to several interesting places as you can see in the pictures, the traffic was horrendous. As a matter of fact, it had more traffic problems than any of the cities we have visited including LA. Not even the 500 store Mall would make me want to return here. I will say that St. Paul was much less congested and easier to travel around. We did get to see the Capitol Building which was in St Paul and...

Jun 3, 2014 - Wet pictures...

These are just a couple from right across the road from our lot! There were better ones down in the new area closer to the woods but didn't have the camera with... one neat one was of a picnic table perfectly reflected in a 8 ft pond of water it was sitting in! Today the weather has gotten itself together and pulled off one of those perfect days that come along sometimes in June! P has attended all the baseball games he can for now and tomorrow we head up to Duluth to see the sights for the first time in many years!! Wedding is on Saturday...
