Aug 10, 2014 - Hermantown, MN - One Year Ago Today...

This morning we moved a short distance from Superior, WI to Hermantown, MN and stopped by Sam’s Club to fill our nearly empty gas tank and to do a little shopping. This afternoon it started to rain a little so it was good to have a quiet day at home. Elena did some cooking and I got caught up on the blogs and did some reading. One year ago today I finished my stem cell transplant at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix and my body started to heal. Now a year later I feel almost as strong and healthy as I did two years ago before the multiple...

Jun 25, 2014 - Hermantown, MN - The Duluth Skyline Parkway

(Ron Writing) Yesterday it was foggy, rainy, cold, and windy. It was not very nice weather to be outdoors and about, so we did our laundry in the morning and then spent the afternoon at home relaxing, reading, and playing Skipbo (our favorite game). We decided to discover the Skyline Parkway hoping that the sky might clear a little more as the afternoon...

On Friday, June 20th, I went to a pre-arranged appointment at St. Mary’s Essentia Hospital in Duluth for a blood test, consultation with a doctor, and an infusion of Zometa (a bone strengthening drug). One of our...

Jun 19, 2014 - Hermantown, MN - Up to Northern Minnesota

(Ron Writing) This morning we continued our drive north on WI-13 to Glidden where we picked-up WI-77 west. When we got to Hayward we made stop for gas and propane. While driving through town we discovered that this was the opening day of their annual “Musky Festival”. This part of Wisconsin attracts a lot of fishermen because of the many lakes that dot the area and the excellent fishing they provide. Fishermen enjoy trying to outwit the rather plentiful muskellunge (usually just referred to as muskies) found in this area. They are much like...
