Jul 26, 2015 - Weekend in the Twin Cities - Sunday

On Sunday we all went to church together at Grace Point Church, Janelle and Don's church. Janelle played the piano for the service. She is very talented musically and can sing too. After church we had lunch at Janelle and Don's. It's always fun to see where friends and relatives live. Don and Janelle have lived in the same house all their married life of over 50 years. They've added on to it over the years and developed beautiful gardens. After lunch we went on a tour of Minneapolis which is on the Mississippi River. Our first stop was to...

Jul 25, 2015 - Weekend in the Twin Cities - Saturday

We've been in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota visiting my cousins, Janelle, her husband, Don, and Juanita. I went to Bethel College (now University) in St. Paul and graduated in 1969. I've been back two or three times but this time was special as we are camped in the driveway of Juanita's home in Ham Lake. She lives on a lake with lots of land. I've enjoyed the views from our "campsite" and hearing loons calling out at night. Juanita and Janelle made plans for a great weekend and it was a relief not to have to figure out what we would...

Sep 8, 2012 - An "Almost" Ouch

And so it begins again… After a summer of staying put in one Minnesota RV park for an entire summer we now prepare to continue on our fulltiming RV adventure in the morning. We have made some dear friends here, last summer and this summer, but are looking forward to seeing what the road has in store for us and don’t plan on being back in Minnesota next year at all. Our day today started with typical RV travel preparations: cushioning those last dishes against road bumps, cleaning and rearranging Tiny so we can bring in the slides, and all...

Aug 30, 2012 - A Very Busy Summer

We were so busy working at our work camping job time flew past and I didn't do very well keeping up my trip journal. Most of our days were spent working (with Tuesday and Wednesdays off) so I didn't have too much time to sit and type in my journal. Our days off were generally spent doing house chores, grocery shopping, and all those things one does to get ready for another week of work. However, we did manage to squeeze in some fun with friends, lunches out to local towns, and even a visit to the MN State Fair! (see pictures above) Our jobs...

May 1, 2012 - Back at Work in MN

Today we started back at our work camping job here in MN. I work the office (reservations, store, newsletter, etc.), clean cabins, camp nurse and all other tasks "as required". Willis works outside duties, cleans/maintains the pool, security, cleans the bath houses, and all other tasks "as required". We are busy from dawn to dusk. Staying this busy will make the summer go quickly I suppose. It is nice to see our MN friends again and we have lots to catch up on since we last saw them all in September. Friends help to make the work seem less...

Jul 23, 2011 - Want HAM with your buffalo?

Not too much to report on today. We motored to St. Cloud MN yesterday and then made our way to Ham Lake which (if you can believe it) is near Coon Rapids MN where our college BF'er buddy Annette lives. On our way we stopped at a Buffalo Ranch which had an outstanding (really) gift shop where I tasted buffalo jerky. Anyway we spent most of the afternoon with Annette and avoided the heavy thunderstorms forecast for Ham Lake. We had a nice lunch out, headed to our campground and turns out we are very close to our neighbors AND it's a full...
