Jerry and I couldn’t believe our good luck when we heard from Karen and Chuck they would be visiting friends in Hackensack, a mere 10 miles south of Walker and we would all get together for lunch in town. They selected The Chase as the place for us to meet and is one of the nicer places to enjoy lunch. The Chase has a wonderful history stemming back to 1894 when Lewis Woodruff Chase came to Walker from Brainerd, MN. The town then was a raw wilderness town full of saloons and lumberjacks. Jun 1, 2006 - Saying Goodbye

Last night we said goodbye to our house on Turtle Lake, and handed over the keys to Dan and Debbie Freund (our renters), who will be taking care of her for the next year. While we were driving away I told the kids to say a little prayer that God would watch over our house while we were away, and Trout, after a few quiet minutes, said, "okay mom, I'm done praying now!"
