Feb 3, 2012 - 24 hours

Feb 3, 2012 24 hours Elk River, Minnesota, United States 24 hours until we hit the road. Rondo is pretty much loaded, Now to do all the things at home that we need to do clean fridge, vacuum (want to come home to a relatively clean house), put the last of the bird feed out, and the list goes on and on. Minnell took Mischief, our 19 year old cat to my brother's place last night. Will miss her curling up on my legs at night. We just couldn't see trying to bring her with although we are finding a lot of articles on the net about traveling...

Feb 1, 2012 - The Rondo

The Rondo Feb 1, 2012 So let me explain - the Rondo is a term Jim picked up on another blog - Rolling Condo or Rondo. This has been a dilemma - what to call it. Fifth Wheel or RV is too impersonal, rig, camper, trailer too generic. While Rondo may or may not stick, for the time being that is what it is named. Perhaps on this first lengthy journey, we'll come up with a more apt moniker. Might even just call it Steve or Mary or...

May 4, 2010 - Overnight in Elk River, MN

We left Mazemke’s home about 9 am and headed northwest to Highway 94. Zeke and Connie had headed to Milwaukee about 7-ish for an appointment, so we said our good-byes then. Connie and Judie didn’t even cry, as they decided crying was for hellos!! And, they did cry in greeting! We loved our visit and the time we spent with them. The day was beautiful (we want to remember that) and a pleasant drive until we arrived near Minneapolis. Lots of well-kept farms and little towns for us to investigate. But, Minneapolis had active construction and,...

Sep 22, 2007 - Purchased the Castle

Purchased "The Castle" at Elk River RV, but there were a few preparation tasks that needed to be done before we would take delivery. More importantly, the 5th Wheel Hitch (Reese Signature Series Slider) was missing a part. The part had to be ordered, so The Castle had to stay for the weekend.

Aug 26, 2007 - The Farm & The Mill

Our last night from Treasure Island Casino Campground, near Red Wing, 40 miles SE of Minneapolis. As we went to bed last night, we both agreed that as enjoyable as they have been, our excitement for seeing more Minnesota Historic sites has sharply waned. Though we had three sites in the Twin Cities area that we had previously thought that we might see today, we decided that our excitement & anticipation to see those sites just did not overcome the effort & energy to make that 80-mile round trip one more time. Tomorrow will be our 47th day...
