We plan to go fishing. We wake up to a light rain. We never get around to renting the pontoon boat. We drive to Cross Lake to visit Craig. He worked on our RV two years ago. He remembers us. We spent a lot of time at his shop. We give him an update. The rest of the day, we spend planning and relaxing. We decide to go out to dinner. We find a nice restaurant on Cross Lake. We are back before dark. The RV Park is filling up. It is Friday night. Everyone goes to the lake on the weekend. We are less than three hours from Minneapolis. Many of...

We walk to breakfast. We get back on the Interstate long enough to pass Fargo and Moorhead City. We stop at the Minnesota Welcome Center. We exit the interstate to Route 10. This is a great highway. We are not in Minnesota long when I ask John, “Do you notice?” He reads my mind. “You mean that everything is green.” That is exactly what I am thinking. At Detroit Lakes, we have three choices. We can go north. We can go south. We can go straight east. I choose straight east. It is not my best decision. The secondary roads are paved but...

Hi All, Staying here one night, heading into ND tomorrow. There was a pretty exciting thunder and lightening storm last night, rained like hell, it's pretty dry here so that was good. Hope this finds everyone doing well, we are. Until later, Jim and Kathy

Here we are in Breezy Point, MN. Tomorrow we are getting our voter registration cards. If we are going to live here, we might as well vote! As we leave the campground, our check engine light comes on. We go to breakfast and then to Whitefish Automotive in Cross Lake. We are waiting for Craig as he shows up to work. I can‘t say he is happy to see our RV. To Craig - Hopefully, you are reading this. Thanks for all your help! I told you I was mentioning you by name and we are still going to recommend you to all of our friends in New Jersey! We...

Surprise! Here we are at Breezy Point, MN. No, we did not buy a cabin here. Yesterday we discussed our check engine light on/off problem with Craig. He ran a computer test. A sensor is going bad. He suggested some “symptoms” that suddenly made sense. We call our nephew, Jason, and he checks with his friend who specializes in transmissions. Right now, it is just a sensor. If we do not fix it, we could have transmission problems. So . . . We have an appointment at 1:30. It is a beautiful morning with not a cloud in the sky. After breakfast,...

Our appointment at the automotive shop is for 9:00. We have time for breakfast and a quick stop at the supermarket. Craig takes the RV right in and then gives us the bad news. He forgot to pick up the parts over the weekend. His parents are here from Texas and as I said - he forgot. He wants to know if we can bring the RV back Tuesday. I have a better idea. How about we pick up the parts. That would work but the parts are in Aitken. Aiken is thirty-five minutes away. Thirty-five minutes? We drove here from NJ! What is thirty-five...

We had quite a storm go through here last night. I was awake listening to the thunder. If I had been down by the lake, I would probably have had a real lightening show! Breakfast is again at Munchies. A breakfast place and a tackle shop. John is in heaven! Not sure of today’s weather, we do not take the pontoon boat out until the afternoon. I can see the appeal of living on a lake but it is probably not for us - not unless we owned the entire lake. This lake must get busy in the summer with speedboats, skiers and jet skis. Fortunately, it...

It is our second day at Munchies for breakfast. John walks into the attached convenience store and the sales clerk yells “Good Morning, John!” To John S.: Nothing has changed! Our sales clerk went to school in New Jersey so we had a long talk with her yesterday. The convenience store has a fishing department and the sales clerk is a fisherperson! The morning is a little cool and it looks like it may rain. John settles for walking the bank of the lake catching sunnies, rock bass and one large mouth bass. I do not go along so there are no...

Is this West Bend, Again? When we went to Alaska, we were “caught” in West Bend, WI. I forget what minor problems we had but the Web page seemed stuck in West Bend. To Pat: Here is your itinerary. Fri.: Breezy Point, Sat.: Breezy Point, Sun.: Breezy Point, Mon.: Breezy Point. After that, the best I can do is MN, ND and Canada. This is a great place to be stuck. We are on Lake Ossawinnamakee. Our hosts are giving us a discount on our stay and on a pontoon boat rental. Our site is shady, there is a laundry here, the bathhouse is great, there...

Again, we start our morning at Jill’s Café. They have free WIFI so I spend time “catching up.” Back at El Rancho Manana, John heads to the lake to fish. He is back at the RV by 10:00. We decide to head further north. Note to Andrew: Capt. Fish is using the fly you made. It works! A pheasant crosses the road in front of us as we pass a hunting preserve. We cross UNDER the Interstate near St. Cloud, MN and pick up the Great River Road. Although it is not yet a small river, it is getting smaller. It is again a great ride! We make out first...
