Sep 21, 2013 - The Mall of America

After breakfast, we headed to the Mall of America. Getting there was easy. Getting around in the mall...not so much! I told Ralph - when I go to a mall, it's to shop. If I want an amusement park, I'll go to one. Not a fan of both in the same place. Two hours was my limit. Too many people. Too many levels. We headed to downtown Minneapolis to see the statue of Mary Tyler Moore throwing her hat into the air (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you're too young!). We never did find it and driving downtown is crazy. So we came home. Ralph...

Aug 9, 2013 - Mall of America

Up again early at 6am. This is not a restfull vacation! We left the hotel this morning at 8:30am heading for The Mall of America. On our way we stopped at Carr Valley Cheese off I-94 to purchase Wisconsin cheese. From there we continued down I-94 and stopped at Culvers for lunch in Menomonie, WI. We finally arrived at The Mall of America at 2pm. The first thing we did after arriving was ride the ferris wheel! What fun that was! Shopping until 4:30pm we met up with the group for supper at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. I had shrimp scampi over...

Aug 9, 2013 - Mall of America ~ Minneapolis MN

Not getting internet last night and this morning was a little perplexing, but Praise the Lord our first stop today I was able to get yesterdays info sent. Whew! Ok, our stop today for lunch was Culver's in Menomonie WI. Susan and I had a hamburger with a Rootbeer float, so good, then down the road a stop to Carr Valley for WI cheese off I-94. Never heard of chocolate cheese until now..tis pretty good. Continuing our coach ride to Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota this afternoon for a little shopping and riding the ferris wheel, that...

May 25, 2012 - Mall of America

Ed got up at 5:00 & after showering went for coffee for the two of us. No "breakfast club" here. We got up to discover more campers had come for the night at the "Walmart RV Resort". After a great night's sleep, we headed out. It was a beautiful sunny day; what a difference a night makes. (We heard a bad storm & tornado hit Wausau, WI which was northeast & a distance from us.) Unlike Indiana with its huge flat farms, Wisconsin has huge farms with hilly terrain. Just think, these farmlands feed the world. We took I90 to Route 52 & headed for...

Jan 7, 2012 - Shopping in the Twin Cities

We have a list of things to find at IKEA and Bed, Bath & Beyond. This requires a trip into the Twin Cities, more specifically Bloomington (the home of the Mall of America). So, we decided to make a day trip for shopping. I wanted to make a trip to pick up the extra decorating things (a bar to hang utensils above the sink, a magnetic knife bar, a curtain rod and an area rug for the bedroom) things today rather than Katherine picking them up tomorrow after taking me to the airport. Then, I can hang everything and Katherine won’t have to do;...

Jul 24, 2011 - Moving in the right direction

We are finally moving west again! We began today's travels rather early, as we wanted to get to our day's activities in a timely manner, in spite of needing to drive 5 hours to get there. We had to go to early mass - the mass reminded me of going to mass in England; the prayers are basically the same, many of the songs are familiar, but the accents are completely foreign! Today we basically drove straight across Wisconsin, in spite of the fact that there really isn't a major highway that goes straight across the state from where we were to...

Domedreamer Wanders

Jul 19, 2011 - MOA

After Sioux Falls, SD, we headed north to the Minneapolis, MN area to check out the Mall Of America. It is the largest mall in the country and has an amusement park in the center. It is the Nickleodeon Universe and has all Nickleodeon character themed rides. There is a 4-5 story tall ferris wheel, but the boys wouldn't be caught dead on it because it was "Dora" themed. They did, however, enjoy the Rock Bottom Plunge rollercoaster, that was based on a Spongebob episode. Matthew got to have his picture taken with Spongebob and Squidward. He...

Jun 20, 2011 - Mall of America

We went to Bloomington, Minnesota to check out the Mall of America. If you need some "retail therapy", this is the place to go. This mall is the largest in the United States in terms of retail space with 520 plus stores. In addition there is an amusement park in the center atrium area themed with Nickelodean characters and an aquarium in the basement. There are at least four roller coasters in the park. There are a bunch of nice restaurants and fast food joints. I would estimate over 30 places to eat including a Rainforest Cafe, Tony...
