Sep 15, 2012 - Leech Lake, cont'd

Yesterday evening we found our way to Leech Lake Corps of Engineers campground—another beautiful place with a wealth of shade trees. This is primarily a fishing destination, and we're not really fisher-people, so it has been another lazy day. We seem to be getting pretty good at that and thoroughly enjoying it. Barbara used the day to catch up on journal writing and drafting publicity articles for the gallery; Sam uploaded photos to the journal and took a nice walk down to the dam. Sep 14, 2012 - Leech Lake Corps of Engineers Campground

Today is a traveling day: we’re leaving Lake Superior, driving along route 61 which is a two-lane road with widely spaced towns and a few state parks. Between them there is forest on both sides (evergreens, lots of birch, and a few other hardwoods) with occasional glimpses of the lake on the southeast. We stopped at an overlook and geological marker, both of which were really interesting. The overlook was a view of a bay in Lake Superior. You don't get many views of the lake when driving because the forest goes right down to the water, so...
