Oct 4, 2017 - Waiting for rain to end!

Well, we are now in Pettibone Rv park in Lacrosse Wi. Going on the second week of our journey south! I think it has rained at least once or twice every day since we left Bemidji! Foxy says it well, yuck! I have maide my request on the trip south to be along the Mississippi, will see how many days we can be on the river. It is peaceful just watching its many moods! Today we awoke to sunshine, will see if I can get a few good photos, and not all of them of Foxy

Sep 12, 2017 - Flordia survival

Good news on our 5th wheel in Florida, No damage to any of the rigs that were parked close to us or in the park! Maybe a few branches but nothing structural. We are very thankful. Most of you have heard all this already, but for anyone that hasn't heard that our rig was parked in Fl and Irma was a cat 1 hurricane when it went past the park. One of the pictures is of Fort Island pier which is about 10 miles from us and right on the gulf. The park lost power and had trees down and a lot of branches but otherwise no major damage, Edee and I...

Sep 3, 2017 - Whoa......!!

Nothing like getting a new puppy in your life to take up all the time that we used to devote to Journaling etc! ha Sorry about the delay but we got a new Sheltie puppy on Aug 23rd and for those of you who aren't familiar with these little pups.... they take up almost ALL of your time!! ^_^ She is so cute and smart that we're glad!! It was way too quiet around here without a dog in the family. ^_^ We had to drive down to Pine City by the Cities to pick her up... then the following weekend we went back down south of the Cities for a family...

Aug 14, 2017 - Mississippi River AND Paul Bunyan?

The 135 mile drive across western Minnesota was fun, picturesque and rainy! We purposely departed a little late from Grand Forks knowing our drive was a short one and we hoped the drizzle would stop. The drizzle did stop but only about 30 miles from our destination park, the Royal Oaks RV Park, and by that time the coach was a dirty mess outside. So what else does Dave have to do? We recommend this little RV park as it is right close to US 2 with easy off and on plus it's location to Bemidji and the eastern entrance to Itasca State Park....

Aug 8, 2017 - Edee and Foxy plus Partridge and Muskie Moon

I'm using the big computer as I took photos with my big camera and it is easier to put them right on the journal! The sequence of photos are off some as the pictures of the moon were taken last night, Edee and Foxy this morning along with the Partridge. The picture of the Flycatcher was taken a few weeks back but I liked it, so thought I would add it along with the others to fill in the empty spaces. We are just starting on the training of Foxy, boy is this going to be a long haul! Hope everyone is having a great summer! P & E

Aug 2, 2017 - Fox Lake RV Campground; Bemidji, MN

/// Wednesday - August 2, 2017 A Travel Day: We departed E. Grand Forks, MN by 11:00 A.M. Our route today will take us east on US Hwy 2. I found the road conditions to be very good. Traffic was light and the weather was fine under partly cloudy skies. We drove straight through, arriving at Hamilton's Fox Lake Campground at 1:45 P.M., after a distance of 124 miles. Check-in was very simple and we were given a choice to two different sites. We picked a nice end site that was a short pull-through site, close to the laundry and restrooms. The...

Jul 22, 2017 - Loons on the lake

This morning after the rain yesterday and again sometime during the night, the loon pack came back and I was fortunate to have the camera ready this time. The bird in the tree was actually the last photo, as I saw him just as the Loons went behind the trees. This is why we love our lake cabin, it is relaxing, and an enjoyable in the morning to sit and watch the wildlife and enjoy a cup of coffee. Edee said it was my turn to put another entry in! Enjoy

Jul 21, 2017 - Try this with the keyboard attached.... hmm

Here we go... been a long time since I've typed on a keyboard! Anyway... guess who found a sewing machine on sale and started quilting.... for the first time in her life!!! Of course, we had to pick out a really easy pattern... look up the Labarynth pattern. I get the funny feeling that even tho' daughter Lauri cut all the pieces while they were here... it's going to be a LONG time before that one is finished ! Ha. Here are a couple of my practice pieces... it's hard learning a new machine...all the levers and buttons are in different...

Jul 18, 2017 - Visiting friend

We were enjoying our evening, and was surprised to see first a bunny cross the yard, no picture, then we looked down our driveway and this deer appeared, I did get its photo. Using the IPad. Earlier we were fortunate to see three Partridges, a mom and 2 small ones that were learning to fly. We sure do enjoy the wildlife that we get to see.

Jul 3, 2017 - Visiting the Headwaters of the Mississippi River

The headwaters of the Mississippi is at Lake Itasca State Park about thirty miles from Bemidji. We drove out there at mid-morning. The State Park is a very popular place with campground, lodge and lots to do. There are boat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard and bike rentals. The park was crowded on this holiday weekend. At the end of the lake, is the beginning of the Mississippi. We have been over the Mississippi in several places in our travels but at those points it was the mighty Mississippi, a huge river. Here, in Itasca State Park, it begins...

Jul 2, 2017 - Visiting Jerry and Judy at Sauk Center

Today we traveled south to Sauk Center. It is about 145 miles from Bemidji and about a two and a half hour drive. We visited with friends from Florida, Jerry and Judy, at their summer home. They are in a campground right on Lake Sauk. They have been coming here for 30 years and now make it home in the summer. The day was beautiful with lots of sunshine and a nice breeze off the lake. We had a nice visit and a great meal - broccoli salad was especially delicious. After lunch, we went for a ride on their pontoon boat. The lake is quite large...
