Today was a good day, but not much of a day. That’s what made it good day – we didn’t spend a dime but we actually got some stuff done. And even though it was a slow day, I did add some pics of the Traverse Bay RV Resort to show where we have lived for almost the last week. We were up pretty early today and since we had no plan to go see or do anything, but we had to relocate the bus to a spot on the other side of the lake. Not a big deal, took all of about 30 minutes to unhook, drive around the corner and set it all up again. After that...

Today was another tourist day for your intrepid travelers. We were again bitten by the lazy bug and slept to almost 9:30 so we didn’t leave here until about 11:30 again. After a short lunch stop in Traverse City we were headed north on Michigan Highway 22 to the Leelanau State Park to look around. The weather today was spectacular – didn’t get above 73° all day with more bright sunshine and some breeze. The trip north took us along Grand Traverse Bay and through the small towns of Sutton’s Bay, Peshawbeston and Northport. The lighthouse was...

We were obviously motivationally deficient this morning…we didn’t wake up till almost 9:30 so we didn’t get out of here until almost 11:30. We headed toward Traverse City, but in the hope of avoiding the Cherry Festival traffic as soon as we hit the city limits we headed onto residential streets to loop around downtown. It all worked out quite nicely as we didn’t get stuck anywhere and were on our way to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. A short 30 minute trip later and we pulled into the Visitor Center to get our National Park...

The weather today was terrific. About 72° all day, bright sun and just a little breeze. I like summer here…well, at least today’s example. We decided that since the National Cherry Festival starts tonight in Traverse City – and no, I’m not making that up - we would do TC before the crowds take over the city for the weekend. We drove down Front Street which is the main drag through downtown and when we got towards the end we hung a right turn and stumbled onto Potter’s Bakery and since it was 11ish and we hadn’t eaten, it was fate. MB had a...

The day started out pretty cloudy with the occasional drizzle but cleared up pretty nice – on the trip home. We headed up US 31 from the campground through the towns of Elk Rapids, East Port and Charlevoix – with a few side trips thrown in – to Petoskey. It is a beautiful town on the shores of Lake Michigan that originally was a summer haven for the rich, many of which were in the auto industry in Detroit. The area is now a destination for tourists – especially golfers – but there are still a lot of “old money” houses around the lake. We...

Yay! We are back on the road! All went well with our registration delivery and after filling up the propane we pulled out of the Allendale KOA just before 11:00 and were on our way up US 131 to our home for the next 6 nights at the Traverse Bay RV Resort in Williamsburg, which is just east of Traverse City, Michigan. I am highly impressed with the way the new ride handles. It is already showing that we are getting 30% better mileage on the trip computer and climbing. It is much quieter and less affected by the wind and passing trucks so...
