Wetmore, MI. After having educated ourselves about Lake Superior ship wrecks when we went to Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, today we viewed some. There are over 500 wrecks lying on the bottom of the lake. We saw 3 of them but there are at least 28 right in the Munising area. Our tour boat, Fireball, is a glass-bottom boat that allowed us to see the ships as they lie in their watery graves. Because the water is so cold, the ships are well preserved. Wetmore, MI. We left Canada as early as possible to avoid the long lines of cars waiting to enter the U.S. It didn’t seem to help much – it took 55 minutes to clear Customs. To entertain us while we waited, however, officers came and escorted a car off to a holding area. We would love to know how that came out! Our goal today was to transfer ourselves 112 miles down the road in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a trek that should take about 2 hours. We managed to make it in 200 miles and in about 10 hours.
