We left the camper in Indiana and drove up to Michigan, to swim in and explore Lake Michigan today. We visited Warren Dunes State Park, which sits on the south eastern shore of Lake Michigan. What a cool place, with its white sand beaches and numerous dunes. Now these are no small dunes! We attempted to climb a few, but they just got bigger and bigger. Aug 9, 2009 - What a Mass of Humanity!

We left Illinois about 9:30 this morning, drove about eight miles and were in Indiana. We went north on Highway 41 to just south of Chicago, east and then north on I94 to this state park: Warren Dunes State Park, Sawyer, MI. We were seven/tenths of a mile from the left turn off into the park when traffic virtually stopped. It took us an hour and half to get inside the park. We asked why all of the traffic and were told: "it's a 90 degree Sunday afternoon, everyone wants to get to the beach." The campground had empty sites, we paid for one...
