Aug 20, 2016 - Big Boy and then the whole family together

Charlotte writing this..... While Wayne went out to breakfast at Big Boy. He used to have Big Boys in southern California and here he found a Big Boy in Tecumsah. He even took a picture of the Big Boy holding up a big hamburger. I stayed in the RV to have my breakfast....not into Big Boy. When he got back we went to a huge grocery store to get things for the big party planned at Roger and Amy's house for Darrell's 50th birthday. Got to Roger's house around 3 pm and the rest of the family showed up....big crowd. Shirley, Dean and Margie and...

Aug 19, 2016 - Jiffy Mix and nephew Roger and his family

This morning we got up and got our breakfast. This morning we are off to Chelsea Milling Co that most people know a Jiffy Mix. Chelsea is a small town about 30 miles to the north of us and is about 30 miles west of Ann Arbor, MI. It seems that all of these towns in southern Michigan began around 1870 and most of the town buildings are from that time. This town is a little bigger, but not a lot, and on the north side of town is a huge plant with lots of grain elevators. Chelsea Milling Co has been in business since the late 1800's and now...

Aug 18, 2016 - Breakfast with Shirley and seeing nephew Darrell and family

Here's Charlotte again......Wayne up and out for a 2 mile walk around the neighborhood before we left for breakfast at about 10:30 at Grandma's, a restaurant Shirley recommended. It was close to Shirley's church so when we walked in immediately people who know her stopped by the table to say hello. After a delicious breakfast we said our "see ya Saturday" instead of goodbye, which was great as the whole family (Dean and Margie and their five of nine kids, Darrell and Cara and their three kids, Roger and Amy and their three kids) will be at...

Aug 17, 2016 - Visiting with Charlotte's sister-in-law Shirley and Dean and his family

This morning after breakfast, I drove into town to park and visit a couple of shops that I had seen yesterday but were closed. Started at the hobby shop. The inside was about twice as big as I had expected, especially for such a small town. He had a huge section on model railroading, model planes and ships, rockets and so much more. I could have spent hours in here. Then I went across the street to a local bakery to see if they had a good loaf of whole wheat bread, and they did. So I got a loaf and a snicker doodle cookie. I now wish that I...

Aug 16, 2016 - Going to Tecumseh Michigan

We are on the road again, this time to Michigan. I have chosen to go the toll road which costs a little but has a lot less traffic, and is more direct. It took a little time to get out of the Cleveland area but as soon as we did it started showing more farms to drive past instead of forest. The road was good, just a lot of construction. Stopped for fuel and potty break and then back on the road going through Toledo, home of the Toledo Mud Hens (remember Klinger on MASH). We arrived at Camp Sequoia in Tecumseh, MI at about 1 pm. Not the best...

Sep 30, 2013 - Michigan, Tecumseh

9/30 We leave Camp Sandusky, with some bags of apples from the trees by where we stayed, and head to Michigan. We get to Indian Creek campground. It is nice, not too big but they have a jumping pillow, a nature trail, llamas, a hawk and a pond with a duck. We go into town, and stop at a Russell Stover outlet store, not a good idea I'm sure. We go to a place called Jerky Unlimited and get some Kangaroo Jerky, it was very good. Then we go to the Cabela's it's lots bigger than the one at home with a lot more animals including lots shot by the...

Aug 5, 2010 - Day 146 - A day in Michigan

It was actually an unusual day for me...just happened to occur in Michigan. I cleaned the HitchHiker. I washed my truck inside and out. And I baked a cobbler! Not a normal day for me at all and I really don't know what got into me. So most of the day was a work day...but it ended up with a great dessert and I don't mean the cobbler...it was the company! Big Greg from the HitchHiker forum came and picked me up and took me for a great Italian dinner in Tecumseh. His wife Judy was just a wee under the weather and opted out, but we went and...

Aug 4, 2010 - Day 145 - 1/2 Ohio/1/2 Michigan

Well, I traveled BACK to Ohio today to meet Ron and Roberta for a visit at their home in Bowling Green. I'm just over the border so it wasn't a long drive. I met them first on the HitchHiker 5th wheel forum in cyberspace...then at the B & B Rally in Arizona in March...then once again at the Chicken Creek Classic 2.5 get-together in Oklahoma (I'm makin' all you non-forum members jealous of our incredible life-style, huh?). They have a wonderful place and just as Roberta promised, Hunter got to go swimming! It was hot and humid when I got...

Aug 3, 2010 - Day 144 - STATE # 34 - MICHIGAN

We had rain half the way to our stop in Tecumseh, Michigan. As usual, it stopped while I took a break for lunch and before we got to our camp. I've been so lucky weather-wise, that I'm starting to get paranoid that something BIG is waiting for me. My park is called Indian Creek and it is quite pretty. I'll be here three nights so Hunter and I will get to know it pretty well on our walks. It's a Passport America park and a bargain. Don't do this often, but I took a nap this afternoon. Must be getting old. :-)
