Oct 2, 2014 - Suttons Bay, MI

This update covers our visit to the beautiful town of Suttons Bay. The downtown region is rated high among visitors as being very "walkable" and having so many specialty shops in which to explore. As in so many of Leelanau County's towns, Suttons Bay has many trails in which to hike or bike, we loved the walk and picnic area around the marina. There are at least six galleries for the art lovers to explore. You can also hop aboard the Inland Seas Tall Ship for a cruise on the bay. If you're in Suttons Bay on August 31, you can join the...

Jul 17, 2011 - Sutton's Bay

We went to Sutton’s Bay and walked around the town and walked along the Bay and marina. It is going to be a warm day. We ate at Martha’s Leelanau Table restaurant for lunch where they serve breakfast all day. It has been converted from a house and is a cute little place decorated in roosters. Sutton’s Bay is a small town with little unique shops and restaurants. It has one main street about 5 blocks long. After our lunch, we browsed the air conditioned shops on the way back to the car. We also stopped at the 45th Parallel’s Candy World for...

Michigan 2011

Aug 25, 2010 - More Food, More Fun And Great New Friends

Written from Wild Cherry RV Resort, Sutton Bay, MI We made it up with our friends from Arkansas, Mona and Ken from the Amana Colonies to Wild cherry RV Resort out side of Traverse City, MI. This is a beautiful park. The RV’s set facing the small lake with a two (yes I said two) hole golf course. I’ve posted a picture of the little lake/pond in the mornings when the water is still and reflects the trees into the water. Beautiful. This park as I said is very pretty, but for the price not many “extras”. No public shower/restrooms and no...

We drove this afternoon to the Wild Cherry Resort a beautiful campground. This is also a cherry farm, were they will let you go pick your own cherrys. Van and I did some wine tasting this afternoon and bought a few bottles. Then return to our campground for a gret dinner of BBQ chicken, green beans and salad. Then we took a bike ride around the campground. Day 2: Van and I had a relaxing day, went into town and had a leisurely lunch at a great outdoor eatery. Then walked around town and looked in the shops and galleries. Ken and Janet went...

Summer 2009

Jun 18, 2009 - Suttons Bay, MI - Wild Cherry RV Resort

What a beautiful place!! The Leelanau Peninsula is so picturesque. The wonderful shades of blue of Lake Michigan, sailboats floating along the waves, the cherry orchards and vineyards are fantastic. This area is approximately 15 miles north of Traverse City, the Cherry Capital of the World. Ingrid grew up in Michigan and has wonderful memories of this area. We enjoyed a tour around the Leelanau Peninsula north to Northport, south west to Leland to Cedar along the Lake Leelanau west coast back to Wild Cherry. On the way to Northport we...
