Nov 17, 2012 - A Full Day
Got up at 4am in order to be ready for my 5am ride to the airport. I arrived in plenty of time to go through security and have a bite of breakfast before going to the gate. The flight was 3 hours long plus I lost two hours with the time change so I landed in Detroit at 12:30. Picked up the rental car and headed to Spencer's house . We caught up on news over lunch. Miho invited me for dinner tonight so right after lunch I stopped at Holiday Market to pick up desert. Dinner was delicious ( as always) - panko crusted pork tenderloin, sushi,...

Jul 11, 2012 - Making Reservations
Spencer and I saw Carol off at 9 this morning. Lots of hugs and kisses because who knows when we will be together again. The weather has been much cooler - very pleasant. The lawn needed mowing, the yard needed weeding and the bushes needed pruning. It was the perfect day to take care of all of that. After a very refreshing shower, I went to the market for ingredients for dinner. When I came home I started making plans for my upcoming trip to Canada and for living in my RV during the winter months. I have found lovely accommodations for...

Jun 28, 2012 - 100 plus Degrees
The drive from Chicago was an incredibly warm one. The heat penerated the glass which made the AC work overtime to keep the car cool. When I pulled into Spencer's driveway the thermometer in the car said the outside temp was 104 degrees. Maybe it was off by a couple of points but still it was hot! I left Owen's at ten am , lost an hour coming into eastern daylight savings time, got to Michigan just before 4pm. Neither Spencer nor I wanted to cook so we went to the Red Coat Tavern for a quick burger. Delicious as always. I fell asleep...

May 21, 2012 - Dayton To Detroit
Weather forecast was for thunderstorms in the Dayton area so I left early this morning - I hate driving in the rain. I arrived at Spencer's at noon - easy trip. Seemed very odd not to stop on the way - I was tempted to detour and take the Airstream Tour somewhere around Wapakoneta but decided against it. My room is a mess - The car was loaded and now all that stuff is in my bedroom to be slowly sorted out - what stays and what goes to storage. I hit the ground running tomorrow with blood tests and mammogram. Besides taking care of me I...

Nov 21, 2011 - Rough Flight
I haven't had a really turbulent plane ride in a very long time. Today, as we were backing away from the gate the pilot gave his greeting, anticipated flight time, weather etc. and - oh by the way- our flight to San Antonio from Minneapolis was pretty bumpy but we expect better conditions going to Detroit. NOT! It still was a good flight because we landed safely and everyone gets to go home for Thanksgiving. Spencer was waiting for me to have dinner and then we both relaxed and watched MNF. I always enjoy our time together. Tomorrow I hit...

Sep 2, 2011 - Sorting. Packing, Cleaning
Got up at 6am to get to the hospital in time for my 7am mammogram and bone density tests. Way too early but that was the only time slot available. After I got home and had some breakfast, it was time to gather my belongings , sort them into long sleeve and denim versus short sleeves and Capri's, pack what I could, load the car, and sweep and dust my bedroom. Lots of bending, lifting, and toting. I had everything staged in the kitchen so that when Spencer arrived home he could cart everything to the car. Bob, Karen and I went out for dinner...

Aug 27, 2011 - Wrapping Up Loose Ends
I dropped my car off for service on Thursday. It was ready yesterday but I was busy having a wonderful time in Lansing so I picked it up this morning. I immediately drove to get the screens since they were ready yesterday also. Did a few more chores and some yard work. I relaxed most of the afternoon and it felt good!

Aug 14, 2011 - A Relaxing Sunday
When I'm on the road, Sundays aren't much different from any other day. Today, however, felt like an "old time" Sunday. Spencer and I just hung around, cooked an old time Sunday dinner , and hung around some more. I forgot how wonderful those lazy days can be. I feel so relaxed - which is a good thing - because next week is a really busy one for me.

Aug 7, 2011 - Tired
6a.m. is way too early to catch a plane! I got up at 3:30 to make the 4 a.m. shuttle to the airport. Security line opened promptly at 4:30 so by 5 I was at the gate waiting for boarding to start at 5:20. I did get some sleep on the plane but not nearly enough. Spencer was up when I got home at 9:00 and we went out for breakfast and a chat. My eyelids were drooping by 10 so we finished up , came home, and I napped until 3. Tonight Karen and Bob had me over for dinner and surprised me with a birthday cake . That's what dear friends do -they...

Jul 31, 2011 - Making Plans
Had breakfast at Dan and Devon's house so I could see their four week old baby before I left town. - One life ends- another begins! My drive to Detroit took longer than usual - was everyone on vacation this week? Lots of traffic and tons of construction zones. Spencer greeted me with a big hug and then we talked for a long time. I ate a couple of pieces of pizza, went through all my mail, and then made arrangements to fly to the Berkshires on Wednesday to spend time with my sisters. We need to go through Mom's things, empty her apartment...

Nov 20, 2010 - No Xray, No Pat Down
Apparently Sky Harbor Airport hasn't installed the new full body scan machines. I went through the normal metal detector. I was, however ,finger swabbed. What were they checking for? I have no idea. It was a very CSI experience. They took my computer away and checked it thoroughly and that was about it. I had gotten there with so much time to spare thinking there would be long slow lines but I only waited about 25 minutes. Fortunately all of the restaurants were open at 5am so I was able to grab a bite to eat. I had very interesting seat...

Jul 11, 2010 - Back in Michigan
I was the only peppy one in the family this morning. Everyone else had a really good time last night ( I am hoping you can read between the lines). I had invited Sean and Brian to have brunch with us at Sopo at 11. They were on time, Spencer and Owen were a bit tardy. If Colin didn't own the place he would have been tardy too! It was non stop chatter from the minute we all gathered until it was time to say goodbye. Colette e-mailed and asked if I took a picture of me with the boys. What is wrong with me that it never occured to me to do...
