August 16, 2011 Today, we left the Thousand Trails and moved up Michigan’s “thumb” along Lake Huron. Rt. 25 goes all along the coast with views of Lake Huron all the way. There are county parks dotting the coastline and even the “wayside” parks are absolutely lovely. In some areas, the lake is right in the backyards of homes and in others, the homes are on ridges high above the lake. The towns are charming but small. Huron County, which is along the top part of the “thumb” has only 31, 000 population but is one of the largest counties in...

Jun 16, 2010 - Port Austin, MI

June 16 Port Crescent State Park Port Austin, MI We found another lighthouse in Harrisville called Sturgeon Point Light. The rain was kind enough to hold off enough so I could get a picture. Our camping destination was in a great Michigan state park. It was a little windy but the campground was a nice place to stay.
