Jun 27, 2013 - On to Oscoda

The mail caught up to us and, fortunately, there was nothing unexpected there. It's always good to know we don't have a jury summons past due or notice that we won the lottery but nothing so exciting, just routine junk mail. The D4 for the satellite came also, thanks to the dependable UPS brown truck. Joe got that installed and operational. So, with those chores done, we hit the road Thursday for the short 55-mile move to Oscoda. We checked out about 10:30 and stopped at Wal-Mart in Tawas City. We had lunch at Subway there and stocked up on...

Aug 13, 2012 - Oscoda, MI and Paul & Maggie Jozwiak wedding

We arrived in Oscoda, MI a day before our friends, Doug and Ellen Jozwiak for their son Paul's wedding. Doug had reserved a buddy site for us so we camped next to them for the weekend. We had fun helping them with the finishing touches for the wedding....setting up chairs, assembling the gazebo they got married under, cleaning the yard after a windy, stormy day before the wedding, etc. The outdoor wedding was beautiful, but soggy with light rain all day. The ceremony was held on the lawn at the Bride's Grandparent's house on Lake Huron and...

Jul 17, 2010 - Wine Tasting and Maggie in the Dunk Tank

Today we started with breakfast at the Caddy Shack where Maggie was working and Don had just arrived on his harley. I think Jay was wishing he had his so he and Don could go ride for the day, but alas it is home in AZ. We then went to Harrisville for their wine tasting at the harbor. The day was beautiful and some of the wine was interesting. I tried one from Ferndale made from honey necktar and aged in bourban vats. Jay could taste the bourban. Tried some I didn't like as much. There was also a cherry wine that I liked. Jay liked a dark...

Jul 16, 2010 - Brother Larry

Jay was off fishing early this morning. Said he caught a few keepers, but he must have been listening when I said "Only bring them home if you plan to clean and cook them". I slept in until 9:30 am, can't remember ever sleeping in that late. I could get used to it. This afternoon, Maggie and Don picked us up to go to Oscoda for dinner with my brother Larry. We had a nice ride over to Larry's condo. Sorry my sister-in-law Pat had to go down state. Jay and Larry had a fun discussion on metal detecting and fishing. We enjoyed dinner at...

Jul 14, 2010 - Missin the West already....

Well...here's a quick update ...We left the Black hills of SD on the 6th of July. Our stay in that area was incredible!!! We highly recommend Custer, SD as an area to stay in. It is centrally located for the area and close to the biggest attractions. The riding was awesome.... On the 6th, we headed to the Badlands...it wasn't far, we rode the loop through the Nat'l park. Well worth the 15bucks for adm. to the pk. Like noplace we have ever seen b4. Then we pressed eastward on hwy 90...that evening we stopped in a reststop. Next Morning we...

Aug 6, 2008 - Relaxing

I slept until 10:30!! Chuck got up earlier (I guess). He went to see his mom. Yesterday she was real bad and had Sue extremely worried. Today they get there and she is in therapy, they take her back to her room and she says she wants to go for a walk, with the walker. She walked up and down the hall and didn't even rest. This is the roller coaster Sue (and everyone) has been on the past few months. We went to the casino for the lunch buffet. Very good food. We planned a two hour visit. I brought home what I started with PLUS 40.00. It is...
