Ocqueoc (pronounced aw-key-awk) Falls are the largest falls in the lower peninsula of Michigan. The Ocqueoc River is one of the few rivers in Michigan that runs from south to north. We were a little surprised by these "Falls". Having seen so many very impressive and beautiful waterfalls while on our trip to Yellowstone and Glacier last year, I think our expectations were set a bit high. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 Joyce & Phil Presnell Ocqueoc, MI What a wonderful surprise exploring the area south of Cheboygan, Michigan along Lake Huron. Joyce and Phil list their home as an overnight stay in our SKP book; and we requested a stay over Labor Day to avoid celebrations in St. Ignace and getting into overbooked campgrounds. They live near Black Lake, Black River and Mountain area about 20 miles north of Rogers City on a small lake.
