Sep 11, 2013 - Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tour

We added a third day to our stopover in Munising, MI so we could take the Glass Bottom Shipwreck Boat tour in the Grand Island bay of Lake Superior which is right next to the city of Munising. Our boat, "Miss Munising" was staffed by an all female crew and Captain. Our two hour tour covered a distance of about 10 miles and featured sights both above and below the water. We were impressed by all the information the Captain and crew shared with us during the tour and we learned a lot about both the area and the shipwrecks we visited. The...

Sep 10, 2013 - Pictured Rocks

Upon arriving in Munising, MI we got checked into a site at the Munising Tourist Park right on the shores of Lake Superior. We had a nice big site with water and 50amp electric hookup. I originally paid for two nights but after looking around the area, we added another night to our stay here. First thing on our agenda was doing laundry! I really miss my nice laundry set up at home but there's something to be said for getting 6 loads of laundry done in less than two hours! Aug 14, 2013 - Pictured Rocks - Lake Superior Michigan

High winds cancelled out trip the first try, but the second one worked. Due to a couple of days of cancellations extra trips were added and we managed to get the one just before the sunset cruise. Nearly the same light and the sunset cruise only had light outbound. Pictured Rocks area is much like the Painted Desert. While the vertical height of the exposed rock in the Painted Desert is several thousand feet, that of the Pictured Rocks is only a few hundred.
