May 22, 2013 - Lord Willing Campground
Well after the mountains of N Carolina Tennessee and W Virginia, the hills of Kentucky, today we enjoyed the literally flat landscape of Ohio and the vast farmland that was everywhere. We also out ran the rain storms behind us so it made for a very nice trip today to the S of Michigan. We have watched the price of gas go from 3.09 to a high of 3.87 today ouch. we are only about 20 miles south of Detroit and 80 miles from home so tomorrow will be a nice slow day. Laundry done again as well as dog beds and blankets so they will smell nice for...

Jul 7, 2012 - Monroe, MI
After making the decision on Friday to leave the Holland area and head to Monroe, we received a call from the scheduler at Newmar. Brad told him we heard they were out straight and probably wouldn't be able to take care of us in the near future so we were going to head east and try to get it fixed at home. He said if we called him at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, if everyone showed up for work that day and if all was going well, he might be able to get us in Tuesday morning. We decided that as long as Brad's nephew, David and his family were going...

Oct 11, 2011 - River Raisin National Battlefield
Oct 11 This will be a short day again as we head across Michigan. We are traveling from Lake Michigan on the west to Lake Erie on the east. Our stop today is at river Raisin National Battlefield Park. This is the newest unit of the National Park system. It began a National Battlefield on October 1, 2010 with the first 30 acres and opened in May 2011 with another 100+ acres added. River Raisin was one of the worst defeats Americans experienced during the war of 1812. 357 Americans soldiers were called during the battle or during the violent...

Aug 8, 2011 - Monroe, MI - Heuey, Duey & Luie
We arrived on schedule in Monroe, MI and stayed at the ARE YOU READY FOR THIS - "Camp Lord Willing RV Park". The write up of the camp ground says they have swimming available, when I asked the, front desk about swimming she said - Swimming in the Pond, "you can see the float lines from here". Needless to say, no swimming tried. 1st night out always challenging, but everything went well as soon as Ed listened to Cindy and Virginia tell him what, how, & when to do it. NO it really isn't that bad, because I took a bike ride for about an hour....

Jun 18, 2011 - Mayflies in June?
Ran to the Kroger for some lunch fixin' as I wasn't certain how long Sam's buddy would be staying. On the way back into the park, the young gal at the first booth told me I needed to put my "passport" sticker in the window. I explained why I didn't want to. Can you imagine if every state park we were in made me do that? Oh, if a ranger sees you, they'll stop you and make you put it on-I said I'll deal with that if it happens. I then asked her about all these insects that were sticking to everything (including us). Oh, she points to one...

Jun 17, 2011 - Monroe, Michigan
Ohio Turnpike = $20.00! You would think that we'd have great roads-not! Guess when you live in this part of the country, you have to take advantage of the small window of nice weather to do road construction. So many miles of 50 mph and I didn't dare go over. I thought about it as the cars were whizzing by, but figured we'd really stick out and probably and be the "chosen" one. We're staying at Sterling State Park. Full hook ups including 50 amp. Not a lot of trees, but the park abuts Lake Erie. Of course, to even get into the park, we had...

May 30, 2011 - Second weekend
Well, last weekend ended great. We had lots of fun and the weather was pretty good. This weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, wasn't to bad, it just rained a little too much lol. The first day was kinda cool, but Saturday and Sunday at least the sun was out most of the day. We had some pretty bad thunder storms pass thru which prompted soom quick packing up of the food tent and the overflow tent. There were 12 people (kids and adults) with us so it kinda made the MH a little crowed, but we all fit. It kinda looked like a war zone the next...

Nov 3, 2010 - Meeting up with Larry and Marilyn
The purpose of stopping at Monroe, MI was to meet up with friends Larry and Marilyn. We had first met them at our very first campground in May 2004 and had e-mailed and met up several times since. When we first met they had not long taken delivery of a 40 foot Monaco Windsor, so two new owners together. On the Monday Larry and Marilyn and their yellow Labrador Carley came across to us for the day. We had and enjoyable day catching up. The only downside of the day was that we had discovered in the morning that our shower drain was leaking....

Oct 31, 2010 - Bye bye Canada Hello America
Today we left McGregor, Ontario and used the International Bridge at Windsor to cross into America. On previous occasions motorhomes always went through the same lanes as cars but today we were directed to the truck lanes. As usual we had to pull over and go to the office because of our British Passports. This was after we had been directed to the X-ray shed. No real problems just not very well organised as we sat around for quite a long time. (For our American readers do you realise we are always photographed and finger printed every time...

Sep 19, 2010 - Drive to Monroe, MI
We spent the week enjoying seeing people, restaurants and places from the years we lived in Rochester Hills, MI. It was fun and the weather cooperated so we had a great week. Today we drove to Monroe, MI, which is only about an hour south of the Jozwiak’s house. We have never seen Toledo or the area around Monroe and aren’t ready to head very far south since it is still in the 90s in TN.
