Sep 13, 2012 - Visiting Steve & Janeen

Thursday, September 13 Mason, MI We spent three nights with Steve and Janeen to recoup from RV rally in Bad Axe. Weather was gorgeous all three days—we went geocaching a couple of days, Jim and Steve helped each other on various projects, Janeen worked in her garden, and I worked on Chapter 6 secretary things. We are leaving here in hopes of spending about a week in Ohio seeing some things and Jim’s niece and nephew and his family in the Columbus area prior to returning to Kentucky for a few medical appointments and seeing our grandkids in...

Jul 13, 2012 - Visiting our RV friends

Friday, July 13 Mason near Lansing, MI We spent the past five days with our RV friends living near Mason, Michigan. During the days we visited them we geocached, bicycled on a bike path near Stockbridge, went to a movie, and took an eco-tour on the Shiawassee Wildlife Refuge. The eco-tour was definitely a surprise to all of us. Our 4+ passenger jon-boat took us down the Saginaw, Cass, Flint, and Tittabawassee Rivers. We saw 5-6 eagles in tree tops and a juvenile on the ground running to take off into the air, deer swimming in the river, a...

Jul 8, 2012 - Travel to Michigan

Saturday, July 8 Lansing, MI A few more days passed with temps in the area at 105 each day. On Thursday, we made the decision to move northward to Michigan to enjoy the cooler temperatures. Although our friends here in the Lansing area thought it was hot; it was only 92 which actually felt good to us. Traffic was light, and we set an all time record for us when we travelled 375 miles in one day—all interstate driving. I drove about one-third of the distance to give us both a break. Sunday’s holiday traffic was very heavy, and we were glad...

Aug 31, 2010 - Relaxing with Michigan friends

We have spent five very hot days with Michigan RV friends just enjoying relaxing and not driving anywhere. Janeen and Steve have a wonderful garden in their backyard that we have enjoyed eating and picking from in previous years. This year was no different. We helped pick over 2 quarts of red raspberries everyday besides tomatoes, honeydews, green beans and other things. The four of us also geocached several days completing over 25 finds in the Lansing area. As our friends were getting ready to go on an Alaskan cruise, we gave them a few...

Aug 26, 2010 - Return to Michigan

We left our friends' home in Pittsfield, Maine on Saturday morning. We had alot of fun geocaching and talking about our summer RV trips for the several days we visited. Then, it was time to get on the road again. It was bright and sunny, and we drove the scenic route 26 through Maine and 21 miles of northern New Hampshire. We stopped at Screw Auger Falls in Grafton State Park for a stretch to see all the kids playing on the rock formations. Since Maine has had unseasonable 'hot weather' for them, the falls had water but not as much as you...
