Aug 20, 2009 - Rainy Day

We started the day with a neighborhood breakfast! One of the neighbor's (also staying in an RV) prepared breakfast burritos for three couples plus he and his wife. We all ate outdoors between rain showers! It rained through the night, and periodically through the day! We has asked that our mail be sent here and it arrived today. After supper we played "Hand and Foot" with Doyle and Arlene. We made plans for tomorrow, assuming the weather isn't too wet! They are going with us as we drive across the Mackinaw Bridge and drive north about...

Aug 19, 2009 - What a Fun Day!

The ride from Mackinaw City on Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry to Mackinac Island was 16 minutes this morning! We rode on the top level and needed a jacket for the ride. No jacket was needed for the rest of the day! It was a lovely 74-76 degrees and sunny all day! We had downloaded a combination e-ticket for the ferry ride and the horse-drawn wagon tour of the island. When we landed we immediately went to the wagon tour center to sign in. We arrived at 10:00 and the next available wagon was at 10:40. The first part of the tour was in a...

Aug 18, 2009 - Car Tour

I previously posted that we are 30 miles from Mackinaw Island/Bridge. Our friends, Arlene and Doyle, acted as tour guides this morning as we drove to Mackinaw Bridge. It is only about 15 miles to the Bridge. The first stop was "MaMa Mia's Pizza", not for pizza, but for the small museum located in the second story. The museum is home to a 15 minute informational film about the building of the five-mile bridge. The Mackinaw Bridge joins the "lower penisula" to the "upper penisula" of Michigan. This is a must stop for anyone in the area. The...

Aug 17, 2009 - What Beautiful Flowers

We had a leisurely morning, preparing to travel. It was just two and half hours until we reached Levering, Michigan. We traveled north on Highway 31 this morning through beautiful lakeside villages. Each village/town is landscaped beautifully. We went through one town this morning that had three colors of petunias planted alongside each edge of the street/highway for miles. In the "downtown" of this town were huge hanging baskets of flowers on every corner. Our friends, Arlene and Doyle Delong, live in Fremont Michigan, but come here to...
