May 6, 2013 - We're Off

We are outta here. Left home at 10:30 AM. Early for us. Lunch at a service center between London and Windsor. We are crossing the border at Windsor instead of Sarnia as we want to go to the Camping World store close to Ann Arbor to pick up a few items that we need. Crossed the border at 2:00 PM and it was no problem but we lost all our tomatoes as you are not allowed to take them across border. Canada to USA. Other way doesn't matter. The reason is that Canadian companies were importing tomatoes from Mexico and packaging them in Canada and...

Jan 2, 2012 - Sick and Tired

I'm sure you all had a better New Years Eve that me. I spent it throwing up in a Illinois rest area due to food poisoning and haven't been the same since. I was going to tell you all about Michigan and wolverines but can't sit up very long other than to say we have yogurt going to southern California. Sales knows we want a load to Florida next and thats the only load I will take. Even if we have to wait around a day for it, Florida is next! Then it's a month of r&r from trucking. I'm quite amazing at the amount of yogurt this country eats...

Sep 7, 2011 - Entering USA

Aug 5th On our way to US border, we stopped in Mount Elgin, to visit my friend Thelma Shaw (she lived in Port McNeill for about 6 months in 1992). It was wonderful to see her again after all these years. While Thelma and I chatted, the children and Andy enjoyed her pool and hot tub; everyone was happy. Not only did Thelma feed us a yummy lunch (delighting the children even more), she sent us off with swimsuit for the girls, books, plums, tomatoes, and homemade jam!! Great timing on the jam as we had finished all the jam that Eva Waines gave...

Apr 25, 2009 - Kalamazoo - That's right Michigan

Not much to report on here. We are staying with Susan Cathcart's mum and dad, in a beautiful home, with a fair dinkum basement, that they live in during the winter, because it is warmer. We are staying in the camper and eating in the house, and boys are catching up on watching TV and some school work. Playing croquet in the yard and sleeping through thunderstorms. Tired today, we had a 8 hour trip up from Cave City, so we had a night off putting up the camper, which I think may have been easier. The boys did okay, between DS games and a...

Apr 10, 2007 - Michigan day 1 and 2

We made it to Kalamazoo after 5 days on the road. Rain, snow and cold most of the way and a flat tire in Kansas City, Mo. which took most of the day to get changed. Easter morning, the MoHo wouldn't start until we tore into the dash to find an obscure fuel shutoff switch that the owner's manual said would need resetting. We reset it. Varoooom. We're off!

Aug 2, 2004 - Donnell Lake, Vandalia, Michigan

By: Shelly Was able to make it to the lake house. My parents have been gracious enough to allow us and the furries to live at their lake house for the two months we are in the South Bend area. There are two houses, the main house and the bunk house. We are staying in the main house but most of our things are in the bunk house. There is plenty of room for visitors as we can comfortable sleep an additional 7 people!! Come visit! Hot Shot really enjoys the lake as she doesn't have to be on her leash since she minds us. The first morning here...
