Jun 18, 2015 - Good to Go

We arrived at PJ's as scheduled and he hopped on the job right away. He knew what he was doing and had those batteries installed in no time. We paid our bill and said good-bye to Indiana. I had checked around and found a campground with paved roads and paved sites about 100 miles north so that was our destination. We had actually stayed in this campground before and it is really beautiful. We topped off our diesel, and stopped for lunch, mostly to kill time until check-in at the campground. We arrived and booked in for 3 nights. We need...

Summer 2015 & Beyond

Aug 14, 2013 - Hopkins, MI

With the rig in perfect working order, we happily hit the road north to Michigan to meet up with our good friends Carson and Diane. One of the many joys of our nomadic life is to meet so many people that become friends. We first met Carson and Diane in Asheville, NC, where they were parked next to us as Dave entertained them by maneuvering the trailer into a difficult space. We have since kept in touch, and they decided to meet us in Michigan for 2 weeks of R&R. We found a gorgeous new RV park, Hidden Ridge RV Resort, that was offering 2...

Jun 6, 2013 - A Short Hop to Hopkins

We felt like residents of Indiana so today was moving day; hitch itch has set in. Now, we didn't go far, just under 80 miles to Hopkins, Michigan but at least we got mobile again. With such a short hop, we poked around most of the morning and even had lunch before we hit the road; a really late start for us. Joe unhooked the utilities, hooked up the car, and I got the inside ready to go. We took the most expedient way out of town by the toll road. That took a donation of $2.70 in tolls. Once we got on U.S. 131 north, we were quickly out of...

Aug 10, 2012 - Finally Found Those Cooler Temps

From Hidden Ridge RV Resort – Hopkins, MI Today we made the shortest trip we have ever made moving from one location to another……….…..…85.9 miles! As planned, we slept in catching that hour we lost yesterday going to EST from CST and then left about 12:45 p.m. to make the small mileage move. The move might have been small in mileage but was huge in finally finding the COOLER weather we have been searching for since leaving Texas July 1st. As we drove toward our new location the truck outside temperature reading kept falling……..going as low...

Home Sweet RV - 2012

Jun 15, 2010 - Hidden Ridge RV Community, Hopkins, Michigan

On the road again...this time to meet up with our friends Tom and Mary Ann we'd met a couple of years ago at Mission, TX. They had come up from Florida to pick up their new Cameo Carriage 5th wheel. Their motorcoach had been a real lemon so decided to change to a 5er. The RV park was spectacular but also was $44 a night. All site were cement with grass and spacious. A pool, hot tub (that we didn't get to try out :-( a lake, a large, clean bathhouse and a beautiful clubhouse. They grilled steaks for us the 1st night and we fixed Low Country...

2010 North Trip

Aug 28, 2008 - Shelbyville/Hopkins, Michigan

Thursday, August 28, 2008 Even though our stay in Traverse City, Michigan was short, we drove to Empire and saw Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, went antiquing, and took a drive along Peninsula Drive. While Rick was unhooking the utilities a man stopped and asked if the blue light on the MotoSat was a “laser beam for aliens”. We thought that was pretty good! There were a few light clouds and some wind when we left the Holiday Park and Campground. It was 71˚ and 11:18 am. We began our journey traveling east on US 31. We stopped at the...

Jun 10, 2008 - Hopkins, MI

On Saturday, we drove from Traverse City, MI to Hopkins, MI … near Grand Rapids. We arrived just in time to set up and watch a thunderstorm approach … it was a very restless night with seemingly non-stop thunder and lighting; the remainder of our stay was warm and humid but without more storms. The RV park here was another big one, so we were able to get in a run without driving to a trail. On Monday, we took a short sidetrip to Holland, MI. Holland is the small town where we purchased our motorhome 18 months ago, so we stopped in to say...
