We said good-bye to St Ignace, MI to head West along US 2, which borders the upper shore of Lake Michigan. A pretty drive with plenty of rest areas, scenic overlooks and places to get to the beach and swim. Not sure I would want to swim in Lake Michigan, kind of cold if I remember right. We passed through towns with names of: Brevort, Epoulette, Naubinway, Gulliver, Manistique, Garden Corners, Ensign, Rapid River, Gladstone and Escanaba before reaching our destination for this evening, The Island Casino and RV campground in Harris, MI. Jul 31, 2010 - More of Mackinac City, The Island and the U.P.

TUESDAY, July 27 -- Tom & Gloria were off early for the Coachmen Groups ferry ride to Mackinac Island. The Snyders were also going to the island later in the morning. Sunny day and quite comfortable. The ferry ride was quick and smooth. Upon our arrival we boarded a two-horse drawn coach for a two hour tour of the island. Part-way through the ride we transferred at a way-station to a three-horse rig. It was a pleasant tour with the driver providing information on the sights. Jun 8, 2010 - Island Resort and Casino, Harris, Michigan

Rain started around 5 am and didn't stop until late that evening! Luckily while breaking camp in was just a drizzle! Skip and Jean were so sweet and came out with their umbrellas to see us off. Rained the entire trip through Wisconsin but the roads were good and the farms were beautiful! The Casino had an RV park in tucked away behind some trees, all paved full hookup but no cable or even any TV service but for $15 we made do with watching some DVDs. Didn't think we really had the money to spare for gambling so stayed at the RV. The sites...
