Sep 3, 2014 - It happened a long time ago

In 1973, I enlisted into US Navy. I was a sophomore in college and the draft system helped me make that decision to enlist and be part of the Vietnam War. Richard Nixon was my commander in chief until he was caught with his fingers in the cookie jar at Watergate. It was a very big shame for America on the freedom of the American way. He spied on his adversaries and used the information to win his re-election. After many denials, he finally resigned in shame in 1974. That’s when Vice President Gerald Ford became my new commander in chief....

Bummin' around 2014

Sep 2, 2014 - Escaping

Last night we had a short sprinkle of rain that woke us up. It only lasted a few minutes but it made me glad that I had put all the stuff outside away. The front that went through left us with a deep rich blue sky, about 70°F and the winds at a dead calm for a great sunrise. The campground is about half full after the holiday weekend. They are mostly retired people wanting some nice quite time at the beach. We rode our bikes along the lake shore bike trail into town and parked them at the city mooring pier. Bummin' around 2014

Sep 1, 2014 - Grand Haven, MI

Today is Labor Day, the last official day of summer and in this part of the country, school starts tomorrow. You can feel the season starting to change and it will not be long before the leaves will be dropping and the long cold winter sets in. We wanted to see how the day was celebrated so we decided to drive to Grand Haven Michigan using Michigan Highway 40 (M-40). It’s a two lane that connects communities and towns together from southern Michigan to Holland Michigan. It’s rarely ever a straight run even though the land is fairly flat. I...
