May 31, 2006 After arriving in Sault Ste. Marie and setting up camp around 3:00 PM we decided to take a trip across the international bridge between to Sault Ste. Marie Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie Michigan ......big mistake. We drove onto the bridge at 4:30 and stopped about 100 yd. up the ramp and then proceeded to stop and go for the next hour. We finally went through American Customs up 5:35. This bridge is 3 km long but should take you nowhere near that time to get over it We got a bird's eye view of the whole city and the St. Mary's...

Jul 25, 2005 - No wrong turn for this Detour

45 59.8 83 54.0 Detour, MI ( beginning of North Channel) We hesitated on departing St. Ignace on Sunday as there was weather brewing in southern / middle Michigan. The NOAA reports were cautionary and frankly a little confusing to the mariner as they spent a lot of time dwelling on systems near or around different highways. Finally, we saw a window and took it. Against our normal pattern of early departure, so we can arrive into new ports by early afternoon, we left St. Ignace under clear skies, no apparent wind and following 2-3 foot seas...
