Sep 4, 2010 - Yucky Weather In The UP

Written from Bay Mills Casino RV Park, Brimley, MI Friday night it started raining and blowing. Well it rained and blowed all night, all day Saturday and most of Saturday night. Poor ole Harvey was rockin' from the wind on Friday night. It was a good day to just stay "honkered" down in the RV. I caught up on some laundry. That was an all day job. A couple other ladies had the same idea. Well the park only has 2 washers and 2 dryers. The washers don't spin real dry and dryers took forever to dry. So we all were very patient and enjoyed...

Sep 2, 2010 - Drive Up To Brimley, Mi

Written from Bay Mills Casino RV Park This morning we got up and did the 60 mile drive up to Brimley, MI, just west of Sault Ste Marie. We made it across the 6 mile Mackinaw Bridge in Harvey. You are only allowed to 20 mph across the bridge. If large vehicles drive faster it could cause the bridge to sway. The two center lanes on the bridge are an open grid. Needless to say we made it across just fine. We found our way to the local Wal-Mart in Sault Ste Marie. Did some stocking up. We were talking to our neighbors here at the RV park and...

Aug 19, 2009 - Travel day - Brimley MI

Wednesday - We got the trailer hooked up early, then visited with a man in the next space. He has a website showing camp sites at casinos. He is an expert witness for the trucking industry. We then went over to the casino to cash in some chips, and see if we could get our campground fees comped. Well, we couldn't , but it was Senior Day, and here seniors are 50+. Woo- hoo a $3.99 lunch buffet. It was OK, BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, salad, icky desserts. We drove thru some nice scenery today.

Jun 28, 2009 - Week Four - lakes, locks and laughs

As we started the week, we drove thru an area known as "30,000 islands" (give or take) dark and reflective waters, inviting docks and rustic cabins. Toronto's summer places. The road was decorated with purple lupins and trillium (yellow "by the roadiums", I think), all growing on this preCambrian Shield. (You can look that up if geology is your thing). Curling seems to be the sport of choice in winter with bowling alleys few and far between. We stopped at Parry Sound, touristy water way to Lake Huron's East coast (rather, Georgian Bay)....

Aug 13, 2008 - Another Casino

Well, we found another casino to stay at but this one we had to pay for. It is a resort more than just a casino so it was worth the money, especially since it had a buffet and Anita had a pocket full of money! We also took a ride up to the Soo locks. It is a really touristy area and neither one of us had been here in over 30 years, so it was nice to walk the streets and reminise a little.

Aug 9, 2008 - Moving on in the UP

Bay Mills Casino RV Park-Brimley,MI We woke up to the sounds of rain on the roof this morning. It didn't last too long, but other little showers came by. Luckily by the time I was ready to unhook the utilities it was not raining and we had partly cloudy skies with a north wind blowing. Temperature was in the 50's and I had a long sleeved shirt on. Stopped at the local BP station and filled up with $3.94 regular gas. Wind is forecasted to be 15 to 25 mph from the north which will be a direct crosswind most of the way today as we head for...
