Completed 1 last task at the REV group headquarters and time to point for home. Staying her in Battle Creek to enjoy one last buffet and a little wagering before we hit the border, will fill up with cheap gas, dump the tanks one last time and call the trip complete. It's been a fun one, got all our must do;s completed, saw a couple of races and said our good-byes. Take care all and have a great summer, one final report to come when we reach home.

Dec 31, 2017 - Firekeeper Casino/RV resort

Good day all. Here we are at stop 1. We awoke to 20cm of snow at home, so had a bit of clearing to do before we could load car up and get pointed southward. Listening to weather forecast we decided to change routes and go thru Detroit vice Sarnia. A very good idea. Did the requisite Duty free stop, thru CBP(don't ask Randi how easy it is to get Tazered) and pointed for Firekeepers. Weather has turned ugly cold -20, yikes so lots of snuggling all nite just to keep warm. Plan is not to stay in rig next stop if cold remains. I made a little at...

Aug 11, 2012 - They're GR-R-Reat!

From Hidden Ridge Resort – Hopkins, MI Today the cereal capital and home to “Tony the Tiger”, the “Fruit Loops Toucan” and the “Keebler Elves” was on our radar. Sadly my bubble had already been burst when I found out after 80 years of factory tours they no longer offered them at Kellogg or Post. Due to OSHA safety guidelines and corporate espionage between the two cereal giants of Battle Creek tours were stopped in 1998. Kellogg did open “Cereal City USA” that same year. Here like at Disney where visitors get to interact with the Disney...

Aug 22, 2006 - GRRRRREAT!

Our next stop after leaving Illinois Beach was Fort Custer State Recreation Area not too far from BattleCreek, Michigan. The camp was so-so - tooo expensive because of the surcharges - wound up paying $30 a night, could have had fulll hook-ups for that! Anyway, we drove into BattleCreek to go to the Kellogg's Cereal city factory tour. I, of course had my picture taken with Tony - who wouldn't? Kelloggs was begun as a sanitarium and in the museum, they had some of the original sanitarium equipment - hence Jeff in the sauna box and me in...

Two Hams in a Can

Aug 22, 2006 - Battle Creek, Michigan

From Pittsburg we took Interstate 76 up to I-80 along Lake Erie, through Cleveland & Toledo, OH. Then we started up the center of Michigan, deciding to stop at the Battle Creek Elks Lodge. What a find! Small struggling lodge, great people, wonderful camping. There were two areas of camping sites, we were directed to "the island", which is really a penninsula surrounded by water on three sides. This was once a quarry that was later filled with water. It was lovely, but only had 20 amp electric, which was okay for the night. In the morning...

Apr 17, 2005 - . . . and back to Michigan

We haven't done a posting in several weeks, primarily because we were visiting our peeps in Michigan for two weeks, were too distracted in Montreal and then had trouble finding a place to compute in Vermont. We're actually in the library in Burlington right now and are allowed two thirty-minute periods per day, which will hopefully be enough! Here's a quick summary of our time in Michigan: * The train ride from Chicago to Jackson, MI was incredibly easy - only 3 ½ hours - and this concluded the public transit portion of our journey. Woo...
