Sep 19, 2017 - Pure Michigan trips

As another added bonus for us, Indy is only four hours from Ann Arbor, home to our dear friend and honorary family member, Bob O'Rourke. We ventured back and forth several times between the two cities, as well as other points in Michigan. Ann Arbor turned out to be yet another fabulous surprise, full of delicious restaurants and microbreweries, and even a distillery and speakeasy joint! We thoroughly enjoyed Bob's tour of some highlights of the University of Michigan as well as his favorite eating and drinking spots. So much fun! One of our...

Jul 3, 2017 - Ann Arbor, MI

After our arrival we drove into downtown Ann Arbor. It was enjoyable. The weather was perfect with no humidity! There were many people walking around. The main street had lots of eating places outside on the wide sidewalk area. It was nice to just walk around after sitting in the car for so long. They don't have many left hand turns at street lights. You have to go past where you want to turn and drive on a turn around. I guess they have done studies that this is a safer way to turn left.

Jul 30, 2016 - Heading South

Lancelot and Kbear are headed south. The short stay in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area was enjoyable. We hit the road toward Ann Arbor to meet up with Anne Marie and Rainer's daughter and her family. The visit has been great. We enjoyed a nice steak dinner on Friday, explored Ann Arbor on Saturday, and attended a bluegrass concert Saturday night. Tomorrow we head toward Dayton, OH and hope to get there in time for a short visit to the Air Force Museum. Then we have serious movement toward the southwest targeting to be home in about 10 days.

Jun 15, 2015 - Rainy days in Ann Arbor

Monday June 15, 2015 Another rainy quiet day here in Ann Arbor. Siri is busily shuffling kids around swim lessons and making sure that all the pools open up properly. Bo is the president of the organization that maintains the pools (OHAC) and that make Siri the de-facto goer and getting things done person when Bo is at work.

Jun 14, 2015 - Rainy days in Ann Arbor

Sunday June 14, 2015 We brought rain with us to Ann Arbor. Rather than fight it, we just spent our time here at home spending time with my sister Siri, hubby Bo, and children Leah, Kal, and Luke. We went to Church, went on walks, downloaded files, updated blogs, played Horse in the basement, and were regaled with youthful achievements. Sometimes I forget how energetic young children are. And the community pool across the street is open and swimming season has begun. It was nice to be able to just spend some time with Siri talking about day...

Aug 31, 2014 - Tribute to Ann Arbor, South Beach, and Robin Williams

Yes there is a connection!! South Beach, Florida is known for its beachy, pastel-colored buildings lovingly restored from the 1930's. The distinct portholes and clean lines were designed to resemble ships. The first photos show our Rumsky RV, stylishly trying to fit into the scene. We had heard just days before about Robin William's tragic death, watched Birdcage based on a recommendation from a friend, and then made the journey from Key Largo to see the actual building where the movie was filmed and pay tribute to a spectacular artist....

Sep 18, 2013 - The importance of balance

Ann Arbor, MI Keeping a balance in life is important so what do you need when you have been busy with museums, lighthouses, nature preserves, and wild life searches? GO SHOPPING! We started with Bronner's in Frankenmuth. It is the world's largest Christmas store. Its merchandise covers 1 1/2 football fields. We joined the occupants of several tour buses and shopped to our heart's content. The place is overwhelming. Name a theme. They have ornaments for it. Wow. Outside the entrance are three 17-foot tall outdoor Santas and a 15-foot tall...

May 29, 2013 - Day 7 - Oberlin to Ann Arbor

We awoke around 7 AM and had a leisurely breakfast of coffee, fruit and doughnuts with Marsha and Warren. We then finished our packing and said our goodbyes around 10:30 AM. The weather was overcast and muggy, but fortunately was not rainy. We started our drive to Ann Arbor which was to take about 2 and 1/2 hours. Around noon, we decided to stop for a quick lunch at McDonald's and we were both hoping that this would be the last McDonald's meal we would have to have for a while. Ginny got something different from the usual Big Mac - a...

Aug 2, 2010 - Searching for Fairy Doors...

Today we went to Downtown Ann Arbor, MI. We did get a late start, so our first stop was to Zigermann's Deli. Waited 15 minutes to get in, then, 15 minutes to get our food. Expensive, but good. Marge told us later that Zigermann's delivered sandwiches to Oprah. After that, we went searching for 'Fairy Doors'. Something that popped up in Ann Arbor, MI and is a fun thing to search for while visiting. Dinner with Bob and Marge again at Weber's restaurant. Resting at the room again. Lot's of TV. More Tomorrow. Bobby
