After checking on friend Don after his operation we are heading to Mike Rose's (friend from AYH days as well) in this fine University town! We spent 2 fine days here visiting the University area, famous Zingerman's (delightful deli +), the public library-very high tech, Michael's sis, Chris & hubby Joel for a wonderful eve & dinner w/ their 2 companions Sophie (a Newfie) & cat, ?.After checking on friend Don after his operation we are heading to Mike Rose's (friend from AYH days as well) in this fine University town! Holy Mackinaw, what a 2 day venture! We left Ann Arbor in the morning, but Dick & Sherry failed to mention the largest Christmas sales place at Bronner's, in Frankenenworth, MI. Then it was off to Mackinaw City, where we had scored reservations of questionable quality in that city. ... First we had to hit a Burger King south of our destination, feeling this was our last chance.Holy Mackinaw, what a 2 day venture! Fort Wilkins was built in 1844 at the end of the peninsula in anticipation of lawlessness in this area where copper was just discovered and a rush was on to get rich by people of different nations and of different languages and cultures. I thought I was going to spend half an hour here at most, but it was better than I thought it would be! McLain SP By noon, I was on my way to stay at McLain State Park for a few days. ... En ce samedi, la route entre Niagara-on-the-Lake (Ontario) et Lansing (Michigan) est assez calme. ... L’arrivée au Flying J (truck stop avec espace pour les RV) à Lansing se fait vers 16 heures. ... So, we finally got the motor home filled to the brim with food, clothes, dog and accessories, laptop, and everything else we thought we might need for our first camping trip. We chose to visit a KOA in Grand Haven where our neighbors stay for the season. ...
