Aug 27, 2012 - Belfast, ME to Sturbridge, MA
The next morning I took some more pictures from our room then we reluctantly checked out. The manager put a letter under our door with the bill, offering 50% off the rate if we stayed for another night. It was hard to resist with the nice room with a view and the nice little town with plenty of good places to eat besides the lobster pound. I took Glenda down to the town wharf and marina where I had been the previous evening, then we picked our way on down Rt. 1 with slow traffic and lots of scenery. We saw many beautiful mansions and B&B’s...

Apr 18, 2012 - Jellystone Park Campground, Sturbridge, MA.
Hi Y'all ! Well it's Wednesday, April 18th and we find ourselves at the Yogi Bear, Jellystone Park Campground. Last year when we arrived here the rail was pelting down and everything was goo mixed in with dead pine needles. Quite a change...When I asked the gal at the counter about it, she said they have not had any rain here the whole year. The only snow they had was in October. I'm glad we didn't bring rain with us this year, but I better say 'shush' because it seems anytime I mention something , it spites me and happens! First cold night...

Jul 20, 2011 - Summer RV Trip to New England - (Sturbridge, MA)
Today we toured Old Sturbridge Village. Gary visited here 40 years ago when he lived close in New Hampshire. Old Sturbridge is a New England village set in the early 1800’s. Buildings have been moved from their original sites from surrounding towns and restored here. Businesses are arranged around a village square. Residences are placed off the main road and farms a short distance off. Many of the businesses – the blacksmith, the tinsmith and the potter – are working. Others are explained with interruptive displays. They are positioned as...

Jul 19, 2011 - Summer RV Trip to New England - (Sturbridge, MA)
Today is another travel day. We are starting back toward home with a few important stops along the way. Tomorrow we plan to tour Old Sturbridge so we traveled to an RV park close to that attraction. The Oak Haven Family Campground is located in Wales, MA and highly rated by Trailer Life. It was a little tricky getting down some of the New England country roads but we arrived at noon. The people were very nice and assigned a site backing up into the woods. There are many wooded sites here but they all seem to be taken by full-times on...

June 21 Wells State Park Sturbridge, MA The final stay of our trip was at Wells State Park in Massachusetts. This was just a stopover on the way back to Maine. My mother rode home with us in a cramped backseat. We squeezed her two huge suitcases in the back of the camper. We found a nice hotel for her to stay at while we found a state park with a nice lake view.

Apr 11, 2009 - Easter Weekend
We left Ellsworth on 4/11 with light snow falling and Dilsea comatose in the back seat. By Portland, it was raining; but by the time we reached Interstate 495 around Boston, it was snowing smartly. So we spent our first night at Yogi Bear's Jellystone RV Park (I know, I know....but it was the only thing open!). We did a nice Easter dinner in central PA. The sun was out, but it was a cold and windy day.

Sep 7, 2008 - Sturbridge, MA
This morning we woke to glorious, blue skies with low, New England-like humidity. Our Florida nightmare had passed along with Hannah, which had turned out to be a very mild tropical storm by the time she reached Boston. We met Marla for breakfast at an authentic Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, where we had our first dim sung experience. The food was good and the entire dim sung experience was fun with the many carts being wheeled around the restaurant with delectable plates of small appetizers to choose from. It did not take long to stuff...

Sep 10, 2007 - Sturbridge, MA
Travel day. Drove to Sturbridge, MA and stayed at the Wal-mart there. Funny but rather sad conversation with one of the checkers at the Wal-mart. The "bagger", a girl in her mid-20's, struck up a conversation with Bob and asked where we were from. He said Pennsylvania. The "checker", a woman about my age, said that she had been in Pennsylvania and remarked that it was a very beautiful state. The bagger then inquired, "Do you need a passport to go there?" We looked at her to see if she was kidding but unfortunately, she wasn't kidding. She...
