Shelburne Falls, MA, Bridge of Flowers. The only one of its kind in the entire world and we were fortunate enough to see it. Built in 1908, as a trolley bridge across the Deerfield River. This trolley ran between the cities of Shelburne Falls and Buckland. With the passing of the trolley line, the 400 ft. bridge was abandoned in 1928. In 1929, the Shelburne Falls Womens’ Club undertook this project to transform this bridge into a lush and colorful flower garden. This morning we packed up and left Vermont for Massachusetts. We arrived at Country Aire Campground in Charlemont, Massachusetts but the address is in Shelburne Falls. Charlemont is pretty small so it probably doesn’t have its own post office. We were really fortunate to get a spot at the campground as we forgot that this is a three day holiday weekend and so the campground had two spots left and luckily, we fit. That is the good news.
