Sep 5, 2012 - Still sick and LOTS of rain
Not much better today. But decided to stay as rain was predicted. Smart decision as we have had rain most of the day including thunder and lightening. The campground is so quiet. No body staying in most of the trailers. They belong to people who keep them here year round. I sure would like to keep our trailer on a site at South Carlsbad and go down and stay whenever I liked. So we straightened up the trailer, took showers and have been reading, napping and working on the journaling. Really wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard but we need to...

Sep 4, 2012 - Colds and a little rain
I woke up with a horrible head/chest cold today and Fred has a sore throat and congestion. So instead of going to Martha’s Vineyard we had a down day. Fortunately I always bring along a small pharmacy, just in case. So we had meds to take. Napped, read and worked on the journal. Watched TV in the evening. Brought in my REALLY comfortable camping chair so I could sleep sitting up. Could breath better that way. Had a smattering of rain during the day.

Sep 3, 2012 - A Wonderful Time in Cape Cod
Last Thursday (8/30) we headed out to the tip of Cape Cod. We have been staying at a campground about 6 miles from Provincetown. We were slightly apprehensive initially about the site, as it did NOT get many good reviews, coupled with the fact that this was Labor Day Weekend ... but have been pleasantly surprised! It is a large park with 200+ sites. There are number of "seasonals" (people who park their RV for the time the site is open ... May-Oct) with some pretty extensive porches and landscaping; there are a number of tents sites; and...

Sep 3, 2012 - Provincetown, lighthouses and lobster
Today the multitudes started leaving Cape Cod. We have no one right next to us in the campground. We will miss Chuck and Bobbie Jo but I gave her our phone number and email address and she promised to call us this year before they came to visit family in Santa Ana. Then we will have them down for dinner. I took the 15 minute local bus ride up to Provincetown, better known as PTown here. Wandered around the downtown area and piers, took pictures, ate a lobster roll and bought some new coat hangers as a few of mine have broken. Came home and...

Sep 2, 2012 - Beaches, sharks, seals, and lighthouses
Got up and visited with all of our neighbors. A nice group of people. We especially like Bobbie Jo and Chuck who are from Mass about 3 hours northwest of here. She had a sister who lived in Santa Ana for many many years and she spent a lot of time out in Orange County. So we had fun talking. It was a gorgeous day. Went to Race Beach which has very nice clean sand. The beach was horrible for boogie boarding as the waves broke on the beach and horrible for playing in the water as it dropped off VERY quickly even for Fred!!! And there were...

Sep 1, 2012 - Out to the Cape
Today we moved from Middleboro, Ma to North Truro, MA out on Cape Cod, almost to the tip. We were going to go by way of Plymouth so that we could see Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II. Well, we got to town and it was so crowded we could not find a place to park the Tahoe and trailer. I did see the Mayflower II from the street but never saw the rock. Finally gave up and headed down to Cape Cod. We stopped and did some grocery shopping as we did not know if there would be a market close to where we were camping. Not too long after crossing...

Aug 31, 2012 - JFK's Museum and Library
I went in to Boston and visited the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Fred did not feel up to it and stay back at the campground. It was a beautiful day and so pretty out on the point where the library is located next to the University of Massachusetts. I have been to several libraries and each is unique. I like Clinton's best of all. There were many opportunities to see him on film which I enjoyed. I felt like I got to know JFK the man, before he was president, a little bit better. Had a good visit.

Jul 25, 2008 - Cape Cod National Seashore
After driving in rain and fog and spending a day dodging raindrops and thunderstorms, I went on a couple of hikes to see the shoreline, a lighthouse, and find a couple of letterboxes. The Highland lighthouse was first lit in 1797, rebuilt in 1857, and rolled 453 feet back in 1996. It is the oldest, most powerful lighthouse on the Cape. They laid round steel pipes down to roll the lighthouse back - was quite the project! The Jenny Lind Tower is one of 4 towers that was located in Boston. In 1927, Harry Aldrich paid the Boston & Maine...
