Happy Birthday to me – Happy Birthday to me!!! The party’s over - our wonderful trip is over. Reality check time Uneventful travel day and we arrived home around noon. It was great being on the road – we saw wonderful things and there is always more we could have seen – but it is also nice to come home again. I enjoyed ‘taking’ you all with us and hope you enjoyed it too. Good night – Until we all travel together again. THE END

Aug 28, 2012 - Errands and rest

The first day in Massachusetts was a quiet day. We did errands. Went to the market, got our hair cut and made plans for the nexy couple of days in Boston. I tried to get caught up on the journaling. We had a Wifi antenna about 6 feet from the trailer and even with Fred's extra antenna we still had HORRIBLE Wifi. They said they had 10 new antennas but Fred says the problem is they put all the antennas on the same frequency. Argh!!!

Aug 27, 2012 - Quechee, VT to Middleboro, Massachusetts

We moved the trailer from Quechee, Vermont to Middleboro, Massachusetts today. The Boston/CapeCod KOA is the second closest campground to Boston. We had forgotten the Labor Day weekend was coming up and we were fortunate to get the Middleboro campsite until Saturday of the holiday weekend. Then we have reservations for a campground at North Truro, Cape Cod. It was a very short trip to Middleboro. We stopped at a visitors center and arrived very early at the campground so I did the laundry. Note: The Vermont back roads are horrible. Really...

Jun 14, 2012 - pre-trip

well tomorrow is the day of departure. I'm VERY busy cleaning out the house refrigerator and cabinets to stock the camper. Also EXTRA busy hiding all my personal stuff in there while Bob isn't looking. He thinks you can go with the clothes on your back and an extra pair of undies for an emergency!!! I have electronics and craft 'crap' that I just can't live without. He doesn't realize he can't live without them either if he wants to have a good trip with me. Not sure what time we are leaving in the morning but I think it would be fairly...

Jul 3, 2011 - Back to KOA

When we got back to Wandering Spirit, there was a lot of traffic, and we were parked going the wrong way. We drove forward and managed to turn around in the fancy entranceway to a gated community. Bet it wasn't Wampanoag living there, but you never know. We tried to follow our directions backward, but there were things like traffic circles (known there as rotaries) that kind of messed us up. At one point, we came back to a service station, and were lucky enough to find a highway patrol car. The officer seemed very surprised that we would...

Jul 2, 2011 - Across NY and MA to KOA Middleboro

We spent the whole day on Interstate 90, travelling through Syracuse, Albany, and across Massachusetts to Plymouth. In breaks, I added a bunch of people to the Travel Journal distribution list. We stopped along the way at several rest stops: Dewitt, Indian Castle, Guilderland and Lee. Forced to live in the land of gas stations and fast food, we learned important things. First, McDonald's Restaurants has a new product called McGriddle. I was curious, so asked the clerk what it was. He looked frightened and got someone else to talk to me,...

Sep 21, 2010 - Shock Sets In!

Pulled out of the campsite right around 10:00 and headed south on US #1, heading for the Boston/Cape Cod KOA in Middleboro, Mass. US #1 heads through some very quaint and interesting old communities; Biddeford, York, Kennebunkport, and others; all with very neat looking old homes and business'. Shortly before noon I got the coffee craving, plugged Tim Horton's into the GPS and when into major shock!!; everyone within 200 KM's was behind us!! Talk about withdrawal symptoms setting in! Fortunately a "Dunkin' Donuts soon came into site and I...

Oct 29, 2009 - Middleborough to Plymouth (stop #1)

We had spent extra time in Middleborough - resting, working on chores, and getting some maintenance work done on the motorhome. We left on Thursday morning and drove to nearby Plymouth, where we did the Pilgrim thing, of course. First we went to Plimoth Plantation (they spell it that way) to see a recreated Pilgrim village, populated by actors acting out the roles of real members of the Mayflower community. Unfortunately, in the fall, with Thanksgiving coming for the Americans, every school in Massachusetts sends field trips there - when we...

Oct 16, 2009 - Martha's Vineyard - Happy Birthday, Wally!

Morning brought with it a grey, pouring sky - a cool 6c, and winds that just wouldn't stop. However, after a fortifying breaky at the Happy Flowers Cafe, our adventuring spirits won out and we set out to explore Edgartown, Tisbury, Aquinnah, Menemsha & Oak Bluffs. Oak Bluffs is my favorite spot on Martha's Vineyard. It is filled with whimsical, multicolored gingerbread cottages - dating back to the mid 1800's - unheated "wooden tents" - erected to replace the earlier Methodists' canvas ones. Original owners modeled their cottages after the...

Oct 14, 2009 - Cape Cod

For our three nights in the Boston area we will be staying at the Boston/Cape Cod KOA. It is the 15th....take a trip with us to Cape Cod, where endless capeabilities are a shore thing! We cross onto the Cape on the Sagamore Bridge - built in 1733-1735. Stately old elms form a bower overhead along much of the 'Old King's Highway' - providing shade for yesteryears army, horses & carriages. After breakfast at '6A', our inner gps set for Provincetown, we pass seaswept views towards the very tip of Cape Cod. A fun place to begin our visit is...

Aug 1, 2009 - Saturday, August 1, JFK Library

Visited the JFK Museum and Library – We enjoyed the review of JFK’s life and presidency and I have always liked Jackie O. The site is beautiful – right on the bay and also a view of the ocean. It is a 9 acre park on the Univ. of MA campus. Then we drove back to Plymouth to Woods for some lobster. Downer – the check engine light came back on – we have an appt. early Monday – hope we are not detained again. Friday, July 31st The check engine light came on in the Odyssey. Fortunately, the repair shop was able to take it in and fix the problem...

Mills Spring 2009

Jul 29, 2009 - Wednesday, July 29 – Rhode Island

Drove into Rhode Island just to say we have been in that state. It is only about 30 miles from us. We drove down the Sakonnet peninsula to Sakonnet Point with a stop for some freshly made ice cream at Grey’s creamery. The treat is made from local cows and is made on site. The ride was rural and scenic. We bought some fresh fruits and veggies at roadside stands and just enjoyed the day.
