Nov 12, 2012 - Oooops, 11 months has passed since our last entry...............

So as we approach our 10 month anniversary (by the time I have finished this, we have passed 15 months), it is clear to all, that we have neglected our blogging duties. Since our last post, much has happened, The first thing to mention is that our first winter was exceptionally mild. We had a few coverings of snow, but each lasted only a couple of days. Each house is responsible for clearing the snow from the path outside, and I was looking forward to having to buy a snow blower to make it easy (boys can never have too many toys!!)....

Jul 21, 2012 - Off to Hyannis via Sailboat

Today I headed for an overnight sailboat trip from Waquoit Bay (Falmouth MA) to Hyannis MA. It was a decent day for sailing other than the direction of the wind. We (well okay, the captain) decided that since we were heading directly into the wind heading toward Hyannis we would head toward Nantucket then make one turn back toward Hyannis. He nailed it perfectly. The only issue we had were large swells while heeling over seemed to make his dog uncomfortable. The Hyannis harbor is very nice. Free launch service and the yacht club restaurant...

Jun 14, 2011 - Riding around the Cape

Our first full day in Cape Cod started with breakfast at another Rachel Ray suggestion. "Jack's Out Back". A cute little restaurant off the main roads, known to locals, and yummy. Unfortunately we woke up too late to get breakfast but our lunch there was delicious and fresh. I love the quaint, casual, relaxed atmosphere and that this is one of the many businesses we have been to on this trip that has a resident dog. A Golden Retriever just roaming around. That would NEVER happen in California. The doggies we see are making us miss our three...

Jun 13, 2011 - Off to Cape Cod

We were ready to leave wet, cold, Maine. We woke in our cute little B & B and had a delicious breakfast. This time we sat at the indoor table in the kitchen with our host, Emery. She was a young, chatty gal. We talked about raising kids and she taught us a little about how it is to live in the area. The entire town of closes up for the winter. She closes up the B & B and the town shuts down. We left and headed to Boston on our way to Cape Cod. I was very excited to go to Cape Cod but the weather was still not agreeing with us. Our drive...

May 12, 2011 - Hyannis, MA

We had a good trip from Lancaster to Hyannis today. We are no longer stopping in New York City, since Lane's cousin will not be there today. However, when we arrived in Cape Cod this afternoon, the temperature was only 57. We had to dig out our coats because we were freezing! We have heat on in our room tonight! I can only imagine how we will fare when we spend the next two days in Maine at Greenville, which is right on Moosehead Lake. One cannot go to Cape Cod without having seafood! Lane and I split a combination plate with shrimp, clam...

Oct 4, 2010 - Day 2 - Hyannis to Provincetown, Cape Cod

What a fabulous day we had! We had a wonderful breakfast buffet then gathered all of our umbrellas, raincoats and set out to see Cape Cod. The forecast was for drizzle, some light showers, and windy; the weather lived up to the forecast! We made a small tour around Hyannis, even spotted the Kennedy Compound - we weren't impressed. It didn't live up to the hype...just looked like a regular home, nothing fancy. We made a short stop at the JFK Memorial where the surf was really up along with the wind. Then we headed out to the mid Cape where...

Jun 28, 2010 - We Got Married This Morning!

Today was the day. After 23 years, we decided to tie the knot! It was a rather windy day at the beach, but it was a lovely ceremony. Note that we are all bare foot. . .the sand between your toes is what life is all about. . . isn't it? Rev Keran does a beautiful wedding and we were blessed to have her perform the wedding. Kay, her daughter, was the photographer and you can tell she did a great job. We received two sets of champagne glasses for our toasts so we had to drink a lot of champagne! We are so blessed to have such wonderful family...

Jun 26, 2010 - Navigating Boston to Pick Up Kristin and David

Today was an exciting trip to Logan International Airport to pick up Kristin and David. It is so good to have them here. David is reading the scripture and Kristin is reading (you guessed it) my original poem at our wedding. David is the best man and Kristin is the matron of honor. What could be better than that? Even FRD is being pretty good except when he went with us to the airport to pick up the kids, he tried to jump on the conveyor belt for a ride and was rescued by one of the workers there. Oh well that is better than fighting...

Jun 25, 2010 - Rainbows, Marriage License, Beaches, Hyannis and Whole Belly Clams

Today we moved to Hyannis. It is quite lovely here. We applied for our marriage license and pick it up on Monday before the ceremony which will be a 10:00 AM on a beach. We found a couple of possibilities. Prior to leaving Vermont we saw the most incredible rainbow. . .it reached from one end of the horizon to the other! FRD had a quite day as he slept in the glove compartment most of the day.He is presently enjoying a book and relaxing with a glass of wine. Kristin and David arrive tomorrow at 12:45 in Boston. Pray for Judy as she takes on...

Sep 24, 2009 - Beyond Cape Cod

On Thursday, we drove north to Plymouth on the Pilgrim’s Highway. Although we visited Plymouth in the past, it was some time ago, so we thought this would be a fun side trip again. After finding a place to park, we walked along the water toward Plymouth Rock. The rock is now at the waterfront near the Mayflower II, however, it has been moved quite a few times. In 1774, it was being moved to a carriage and split in two. As no one had seen a flaw in the rock, the separation of the rock was construed to be ominous of a division of the...

Sep 22, 2009 - Cape Cod

We started off our exploration of Cape Cod by driving east to Hyannis. We stopped at a beach in Barnstable on Nantucket Bay. Duke had fun sniffing all over the beach. The waves were breaking and he didn't seem too excited about swimming, but Jay threw a shell in the water and off he went to retrieve it getting hit by the waves. We walked through Hyannis and a lot had changed since we were here in the late 1990's. The JFK Museum in town is a must to see. We had toured this last time, so we passed on this trip, but if you are in town, you...
