Drove I95 south to Boston, a toll road and then I 93 through Boston. About 20 miles south west is Wompatuck State Park, we had stayed there in 1997 so were remembering the pretty drive thought a residential area with large nicely kept yards and homes. The campsites are large private sites surrounded by big beautiful trees. After we had lunch at the trailer we drove to Hingham to find the ferry dock and a schedule to downtown Boston. On Labor Day we took our leave of New York and headed to Hingham, MA just outside of Boston. We had stayed in this campground the last time we were in Boston and found it to be inexpensive, peaceful, and suitably located (although the bathrooms are the nastiest of all that we have experienced during the trip and we are forced to use them since we do not have sewage hook ups). The first few days here were dedicated to doing some routine chores like haircuts and straightening (the last one of the trip!), oil changes, and grocery shopping....

Monday we moved the camper from Salem to a state park in Hingham south of Boston. Our drive took us under the city on the highway which was just recently completed as part of the project known affectionately around these parts as The Big Dig. The Big Dig was a federally funded project whose initial cost was estimated to be $3 billion and whose final cost was more along the lines of $14 billion.
