Jun 16, 2011 - Hanscom AFB, MA
We have an appointment on Saturday for a RV service technician to come and install all new brake assemblies on our 5th wheel. When we visited Campers Inn, they found that our brakes were out of adjustment and that one of the rear brake shoes was missing a chuck of brake pad. We made the decision to put on all new brake assemblies even though this would delay our moving on into Maine on our way to the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Better safe than sorry....

Oct 26, 2010 - Library Time for Debi
After our 9mile walk yesterday, our legs are still quite sore, so Debi headed to the library for some research time. Looking up records of her 8th, 9th & 10th Great grandparents. Edward Culver, Debi's 10th Great-Grandfather, is shown as being a Scout for King Philip in 1676. Edward's, and his wife Ann's, grave marker is in Groton, CT which we hope to visit in the next week or so. Good friend, TJ, came over for dinner tonight also, Beef Strogenoff, mmmmmm. We missed Connie, but understand her being tired after a long day at work. Thanks for...

Oct 25, 2010 - Walking in the footsteps of the Minutemen
Today, we took a short 9mile walk. Since we are here in the area that is recorded as the "Birthplace of America", we walked a short portion of the 20mile route that the British took on April 19, 1775 when they met with the Colony's Minutemen and the "Shot heard around the world" was fired. We visited the site where Paul Revere was stopped and detained for 4 hours during his midnight ride announcing that the "British were coming". It took us nearly 6 hours to walk the 9 miles, and the British did 20 miles each way (total of 40 miles) in less...

Jun 26, 2010 - Minute Man National Historical Park, MA
When studying the Revolutionary War among other events, one that I’m sure we all remember is the “shot heard ‘round the world”. Who fired it? Why is it called that? Today, we visited the Minute Man National Historical Park, in search of answers to these questions. First, we visited the Minute Man Visitor Center where we saw an excellent multi-media presentation about the events that led to the battle in this area. Why were they called the "minute man"? Believing that a full-time militia would be a threat to their liberties, the colonists...

Today is moving day for us. We will be leaving Westover AFB this morning. Gene is getting the RV prepped for the move. He is unhooking the power, water and getting things ready to go to the dump station. We have enjoyed our stay here. We had a nice site among a nice grove of shade trees. We had a nice stressless drive with beautiful scenery of lush trees, rolling hills and peaceful flowing rivers. Well, our next stop will be at Hanscom AFB, still in MA. Because of the 4th of July holiday coming up, Gene has decided to stay here for 2...

Oct 24, 2008 - Minuteman National Park
We made such great time that we had time to stop at a mall to pick up some small items I didn't pack. Checked into our hotel by 2;30 . It was a sunny, crisp autumn day so we decided to go to Minuteman National Park right down the street. At the Visitor's Center we saw a presentation called "Road to Revolution". It was very well done- film, props, and sound effects. This multimedia presentation tells the park's story depicting Paul Revere's Ride ( there is a monument where he was captured by the British) and battles at Lexington Green, North...
