Oct 9, 2011 - Delmarva Peninsula
I have so much to write about that it will have to be broken up into 2 entries. What a weekend! And a holiday one at that! That minor detail had escaped our attention until the day we delivered our potatoes in Pocomoke City, MD. When we were empty our dispatcher informed us that it was “dead” in the area until after the holiday. After going over a few options, we agreed that the best choice was heading down to Georgia. There was a load of chicken that needed to get to Modesto, California for Tuesday night, and we could pick it up on Sunday....

Jun 26, 2011 - Saturday and Sunday: Cape Hatteras, back to Virginia Beach, then on to the Eastern shores of VA and MD.
Saturday on Cape Hatteras was a day of relaxation. Perro is still applying for Coast Guard rescue dog. He loves the water and makes friends with everybody. What a good natured dog. Endless patience. The girls were great. Very nice kids. Dennis and I had some good talks. He grilled hamburgers for supper. Food is really tasting good these days. It’s fun to watch the people. All sizes and shapes. Some in pup tents. Some in $250,000 class A’s (Big as Greyhound busses). Vacations are really for kids though. Headed back to Virginia Beach about...

May 24, 2009 - Road Trip to Ocean City
Did some RV stuff this morning. Put a black Maxxair vent cover on the bedroom roof vent. A Maxxair cover allows you to keep the vent open at all times, even when it's raining. Why black? If you guessed to keep the light out so Marilyn could sleep longer in the morning you would be right. We now have to decide if we should put one over the shower roof vent and what colour-smoke or black ? Same reason. Decisions, decisions-it never ends. After all that hard work we felt in need of some entertainment so we went to Ocean City. Got there just in...

May 23, 2009 - Lazy Day at Pocomoke State Park
A lazy morning. Fixed a flat tire on my bike. Put some carpet on the 5er (RV lingo for fifth wheel) steps. Marilyn washed the back window as it gets dirty. She also washed the front of the 5er as it also gets dirty-lots of bugs. Generally a laid back morning. In the afternoon we headed into Snow Hill as we were out of Mojito mix and the DW (RV slang for Dear Wife) has become very fond of this over lots of ice before dinner. Couldn't get the Bacardi kind so we tried a brand called Chi Chi. Mistake. Big bike ride around the park. Lots of...

May 22, 2009 - Pocomoke State Park
Left Washington about 9:30 AM. Not in a hurry as we wanted to let the morning rush hour pass. Easy trip out and soon we were on our way to Annapolis and back over the Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore. A beautiful day. Lots of sailboats on Chesapeake Bay. The Bay Bridge is 17 miles long and actually is two bridges with each bridge handling one way traffic, although one bridge has 3 lanes and they alternate traffic direction in that lane depending which way has the most traffic. Overhead arrows indicate direction of travel. After that it was...

Oct 19, 2007 - Our "bump" in the road
As of our last entry, we were headed to Cape Hatteras, NC. We left the Delaware Seashore, headed south through Maryland and into Virginia. Having only traveled one and half hours, our truck died..literally. Ray was able to pull it and the 5th wheel off the side of the road. We called roadside service and with an hour or two we were towed to the nearest Dodge Dealership in Pocomoke City, MD. Unfortunately, after another hour, it was determined that the master computer in the truck was gone and a new one would need to be ordered. Ok..this is...

Jul 1, 2006 - Boondocking
I hate boondocking. There, I said it. I've come to terms with having no sewer hook-up, even no water hook-up, working off our fresh water tank. I've learned to take showers in the public facility without complaining. I've learned to be conservative in washing my dishes. I've learned to live with a less than spotless "house" for short spurts. Even Fred has learned to eat on paper plates without complaint, to save dishwashing. But spending 4 days in Assateague State Park without electricity drove both of us nuts. When we went off on this...
